President Donald Trump, known for being a great deal-maker, shared a peek at some of the behind-the-scenes steps he took in order to get the One Big Beautiful Bill passed when some Republicans weren't yet on board, including making calls in the wee hours of the morning.
Speaking at a Rose Garden Club luncheon on Tuesday with Senate Republicans, Trump revealed that the art of the deal sometimes includes calling four different representatives at four in the morning to convince them to vote for the OBBB.
POTUS is the MAN.

"It was the biggest bill ever passed in Congress and what we did was a little risky," Trump said. "We put everything into the bill, [Sen.] John [Thune R-SD] And some people were against it. They said, 'No, you got to do small bites.'"
"And we gave it a shot and we got it passed," he added. "I got a call from John, he said, Ah, it was three o'clock in the morning. 'Sir, we have four hard no's. Could you please call them?' I said, What time is it, John? 'It's four o'clock in the morning, sir.'"
"So, I call up, one of you is sitting right here," Trump continued, pointing to someone at the luncheon. I said to Jim, Could I say hello to you? It's four o'clock in the morning. He said, 'Sir, you have my vote."
Trump said he then made a second call, and using a fictitious name, he said, "Doug, can you vote? 'You got it, sir,'" the person replied.
"Then I called up another one. How about Josh? Can I have your vote, Josh?" he added. "Cause I like Josh, and Josh, who can be very difficult, said, 'Sir, you have my vote. His wife was screaming at him on the other side."
"But I called people," Trump continued. "And they weren't really hard-nosed. They wanted a little attention, unfortunately, at four in the morning. Sometimes I like the ones that don't like the attention, but we'll take it any way we can. And we got it passed, right, John, and nobody thought that could happen…."

At one point, POTUS also called out Democrats who he said spread fake news about his OBBB, pointing out that its passage equaled the "largest tax cut in history" and more.

"[Democrats] say 'It brings death!' Now, if I'm a regular person and I hear that, I say 'that's terrible!' but it's the opposite: it brings life!" Trump said. "It brings Medicaid, Medicare, Social Security. It secures all those things."
Trump also reacted to the fact that the Schumer Shutdown was going on day 21. Speaking at the luncheon, he made it clear he and the Republicans "will not be extorted" by the Democrats, as my RedState colleague Bonchie reported.
Editor’s Note: The Schumer Shutdown is here. Rather than put the American people first, Chuck Schumer and the radical Democrats forced a government shutdown for healthcare for illegals. They own this.
