President Donald Trump made some rather surprising comments about the FBI's raid early Friday morning at the home and office of former National Security Advisor John Bolton.

Speaking to members of the press after taking a walk to a gift shop across the street from the White House, President Trump responded to the news about the Bolton raid and said that he just found out about it while watching TV this morning, like the rest of us.

"No, I don't know about it," Trump said. "I saw it on television this morning. I'm not a fan of John Bolton. He's a real sort of lowlife…"

Trump said that during his first term, Bolton scared foreign leaders.

"I would walk into a room with him in a foreign country, the foreign country would give me everything cause they said, 'Oh, no, they are going to get blown up because John Bolton's there,'" he added.

The President then reiterated how he knew nothing about the raid at Bolton's D.C. area home and office.

"I know nothing about it," Trump said. "I just saw it this morning. They did a raid."

When pressed if he believes he will be briefed on it by the Department of Justice later, he said yes, "probably today sometime."

"I don't want to know. I tell [U.S. Attorney General] Pam [Bondi] and I tell the group, I don't want to know, just do what you have to do…I feel that it's better this way," Trump explained.

While donning a bright red, "Trump Was Right About Everything" hat, he also took questions about the state of negotiations to end the war between Russia and Ukraine following the Alaska Summit and talks earlier this week with foreign leaders at the White House.

"We're going to see if Putin and Zelensky will be working together... They don't get along too well for obvious reasons, but we'll see," Trump said. "And then we'll see whether or not I'll have to be there."

My RedState colleague Rusty Weiss reported on the early morning raid on Bolton's Bethesda home.

Weiss wrote:

The case reportedly revolves around a prior investigation involving allegations that Bolton unlawfully disclosed classified information in a memoir published in June 2020.

The New York Post first reported on the raid, which was conducted at 7 a.m. Within minutes, Director Patel took to his X account to report that the FBI was engaged in a "mission."

"NO ONE is above the law," he wrote in a cryptic message. "@FBI agents on mission."

A short time later, RedState's Bonchie reported that a second raid had been carried out at Bolton's D.C. office.

Bonchie wrote:

This investigation isn't new. It stretches back to the first Trump administration, but it was quickly shuttered when Joe Biden took office. That happened despite there already being a grand jury involved, leading many to suspect that politics played a role in the decision. Sure enough, the Biden administration would later launch the Overton window into the sun by raiding Trump's Florida home, Mar-a-Lago, and charging him with the possession of classified documents.
