Iconic James Bond star Pierce Brosnan knows exactly which actor would be "wonderful" to take the 007 baton, and we have to say, we wholeheartedly support his choice.
During a recent interview with the Hollywood Reporter, the 72-year-old actor talked about Daniel Craig's departure from the franchise as the coveted British spy after four terrific films.
Initially, when the publication asked him who he would pick to take over the role, Brosnan said, "I have no picks. I shall leave it open to the powers that be. It's a very exciting moment in the history of James Bond. Now that Barbara [Broccoli] and Michael [G. Wilson [the former franchise producers], have relinquished the reins of it."

When pressed by the interviewer about the possibility of his fellow "MobLand" costar, Tom Hardy getting the gig, the "Die Another Day" star endorsed it.
"Oh! Tom would be wonderful," Brosnan replied, while laughing. "There's [sic] so many great actors out there who could portray this character. I have no idea who, I have no idea. I wish whoever it is great success. Toi toi toi."
If you are unfamiliar with Hardy's handiwork, check out "Dunkirk," "Taboo," "Venom," "Band of Brothers," "Black Hawk Down," and "The Dark Knight Rises," just to name a few.
Amazon MGM Studios recently acquired creative control of the franchise from the former franchise producers, something Brosnan recently admitted to The Telegraph "does come with a certain lament."
"It takes great courage for them to let go. They will still have a say in matters. I hope that [Amazon] handles the work and the character with dignity and imagination and respect," the actor said, saying that it's "a given" a British actor should get the part.
RedState's Brandon Morse rightly pointed out the concerns of fans when Broccoli handed over the rights, with some thinking it marked the end of the 007 that we all know and love.
Morse wrote that Amazon's Jeff Bezos tried to ease those concerns, stating that James Bond would unequivocally remain a role played by a male.
As reported by Cosmicbook News:
Reports claim that under Jennifer Salke, Amazon wanted to take the James Bond franchise in a new direction—with a female lead and spinoffs featuring diverse characters in a Marvel-style cinematic universe. Rumors say Jeff Bezos pushed back, sending a company-wide memo stating that James Bond will remain British and male.
Morse wrote in the story linked above that:
This is the smartest move Amazon's ever made. Bond is a character that appeals to adult males. He's clever, deadly, sharp, and sophisticated. Ladies want him, and men want to be him. This tight focus on Bond as a character made him appealing to many other people, and made him a legendary figure in Western culture. Making him a character that men enjoyed watching movies about gave him broader appeal because the tighter focus meant for tighter storylines and character development.
Stripping him of these qualities, or even his gender, in order to make him more palatable for Stacy, a 20-year-old white girl at Berkley, while still trying to stick to "safe" characteristics creates a character that isn't Bond, and thus someone no one will like.
Other actors whose names have been floated as possible Bond replacements include Idris Elba, Aaron Taylor-Johnson, and, there's always Henry Cavill, as RedState reported. Stay tuned!
