The Conservative group American Parents Coalition has issued a warning about YMCA summer camps that put “gender ideology ahead” of kids' safety.

"The @ymca allows boys in girls' cabins, locker rooms, and teams based on gender identity, not biology. Parents often aren't told," a post on Wednesday on X read from the group's "The Lookout: YMCA Transgender Policies-American Parents Coalition" report. 

The report read that:

As families sign up for summer sports and camps, many may not be aware that YMCA programs will not necessarily separate children based on biological sex. Across the country, YMCA locations are prioritizing gender identity over biological reality, and parents are often left in the dark. Biological males may be allowed to compete against girls, share locker rooms, use showers, and stay in overnight cabins without parental notification or consent. Parents have a right to know the truth about where their children will be housed, who they will compete against, and how their privacy will be protected.

The group said it has learned that when it comes to implementing so-called "Safe Spaces" for LGBTQ+ campers that, "Many local YMCAs have adopted radical gender identity policies, allowing individuals to access locker rooms, bathrooms, overnight housing, and sports teams based on self-declared gender identity, not biological sex. What's worse, is some of these branches are under no obligation to inform parents …"

Some locations defended these policies even after indecent exposure incidents in girls’ spaces.

A since-deleted page on the YMCA website recommends "all campers and staff have access to the facilities aligned with their gender identity and comfort within facility and resource limitations," per The Daily Wire. 

At YMCAs across the country, the local policy is that males are allowed in female spaces based on their gender identity, not biology.

The report points out that:

• YMCA Camp Olson (MN) Policy: Explicitly states that parents may not be informed ahead of time if a biological male will be placed in a girls' cabin, sports team, or locker room.

• Lakeland Hills YMCA (NJ) Policy: Allows individuals to use restrooms and locker rooms that match their gender identity rather than biological sex in accordance with New Jersey law.

• Door County YMCA (WI) Policy: Says members may use facilities that align with both their gender presentation and identity rather than biological sex.

• YMCA of Metropolitan Detroit (MI) Policy: Allows access to bathrooms and locker rooms based on gender identity rather than biological sex.

"Too many YMCA branches are putting gender ideology ahead of child safety by allowing locker rooms, showers, and cabins to become a free-for-all. This is unacceptable," American Parents Coalition Executive Director Alleigh Marré said. "Parents must question their local YMCA to ensure their child's safety and advocate for sex-based spaces where they do not exist."

The report also breaks down what's happened when YMCA members have expressed concern about these insane rules. One example occurred in Southern California when a "17-year-old girl encountered a nude biological male in the women's locker room at her local YMCA. The man identified as transgender. Protests followed, but YMCA leadership defended the policy."

Another example happened in Ohio when a "biological male was accused of exposing himself in the women's locker room." Despite three counts of indecent exposure, "the individual was found not guilty, and YMCA policy remained unchanged."

A judge ruled that a transgender woman could not have indecently exposed her penis in a YMCA female changing room after agreeing with her claim that she's too fat for it to be visible.

Darren Glines, who now goes by Rachel, was found not guilty of three counts of indecent exposure at the facility in Xenia, Ohio.

Judge David McNamee cleared Glines after agreeing that the size of her belly meant it would be impossible for anyone to see her penis.
