CNN commentator Van Jones did not beat around the bush when he said, "Democrats need to apologize to the American people" following revelations about the extent of Biden's decline in an upcoming book. Jones' segment aired shortly before the news about former President Joe Biden's "aggressive form" of prostate cancer came out Sunday afternoon.
Speaking to Jake Tapper on CNN's "State of the Union," the former advisor to former president Barack Obama talked about Tapper and Axios' Alex Thompson's book "Original Sin: President Biden's decline, It's cover up, and his disastrous choice to run again.
Jones said the party needs to "look inside," which he does not see following President Donald Trump's victory, and apologize for not being truthful about Biden. (His remarks start at the 5:13 mark.)
"You know, in 2024 (sic), we got beat by W., John Kerry got swift-boated by Karl Rove, and suddenly we're looking at a president that we didn't like, George W. Bush, with a war that we thought was being fought badly, constitutional crisis, and triple-red, red Senate, House and White House," Jones said.
"It took three and a half years before Barack Obama emerged with a message," he added. "What did we do in the meantime? We looked inside. Donors got reorganized as a Democracy Alliance in 2005. Bloggers got reorganized as Huffington Post in 2005. Black voters got organized under Color of Change in 2005. And there was a deep internal reflection."
"I do not see that happening. I see people, rather than reorganizing, rethink — Center for American Progress took off in 2005 and came up with a new set of ideas for Democrats. That has to happen. Before we get out here and start trying to tell people why they should like us, we need to look in the mirror, reorganize ourselves, get bad people and bad ideas out of the way, and then we will be able to come forward in the midterm. But right now, we need to apologize to American people that we were part of something that wasn't on the up and up."
On Sunday, it was announced that Biden has been diagnosed with aggressive prostate cancer. The cancer has metastasized to his bones:
Former President Joe Biden has been diagnosed with prostate cancer, his personal office announced on Sunday.
"Last week, President Joe Biden was seen for a new finding of a prostate nodule after experiencing increasing urinary symptoms," read a statement released by the president's personal office. "On Friday he was diagnosed with prostate cancer, characterized by a Gleason score of 9 (Grade Group 5) with metastasis to the bone."
"While this represents a more aggressive form of the disease, the cancer appears to be hormone-sensitive which allows for effective management," the statement continued. "The President and his family are reviewing treatment options with his physicians."
Several doctors have since spoken out about the diagnosis, bringing up concerns about the timing, stating that this form of cancer would've been monitored "for some time before this diagnosis," RedState reported.
Dr. Howie Forman, a professor of radiology and biomedical imaging, public health management and economics at Yale, finds it "inconceivable" that this aggressive cancer was not being followed before Biden left office.
Forman indicated that the cancer being at this advanced stage would have been monitored "for some time before this diagnosis."
The concern becomes just how far back his doctors, friends, and family may have known about the cancer. Could it be possible that the cancer just sprang up aggressively out of nowhere for an elderly president who medical experts constantly monitor?
Following the cancer news, President Donald Trump and Melania offered their sympathy to Biden and his family, with a post on Truth Social.
"Melania and I are saddened to hear about Joe Biden's recent medical diagnosis. We extend our warmest and best wishes to Jill and the family, and we wish Joe a fast and successful recovery," Trump wrote.

The Democrat Party has never been less popular as the corruption and gaslighting during the former Biden regime becomes more and more clear each day.
