Watch: Scott Jennings Gets Democrat to Admit NY Case Was 'Plot to Upend' Trump's Presidential Campaign

CNN senior political commentator Scott Jennings looked completely shocked on Thursday when he got a Democratic strategist to admit that the "justice system was weaponized against President Donald Trump to upend his presidential campaign.”

During CNN's "The Arena with Kasie Hunt," Hunt spoke to Lis Smith, former communications advisor to Pete Buttigieg, and Jennings about the Democratic base being "mad" at party leaders in Washington, D.C. after Sen. Chuck Schumer's (D-NY) "fold" on the continuing resolution (CR), preventing a government shutdown.

She agreed with Jennings, saying that "Democrats are learning …  that Democrats can not only be the party of resistance."

"Like we resisted so hard between 2017 and 2024," Smith said. "We impeached the guy [Trump]. Like, we prosecuted him. Convicted him of 34 felony counts. And guess what, he still got elected. I don't know how much harder we can resist right now."

Jennings did sort of look like the cat who swallowed the canary and said, "Wait, are you admitting that the case against Trump in New York was part of the organized Democratic party resistance?"

Smith smiled, laughed, and replied, "It was a Democratic prosecutor."

The CNN contributor wanted to clarify that he had just heard what he thought he had and asked her again if she was admitting the Democrat party's prosecution of Trump.

"Just to be clear, everyone that now touts the 34 felonies, take it from Lis, this was not a real case," Jennings said. "This was a plot to upend the presidential campaign. Which backfired."

Jennings posted the clip on X and wrote, "I can't believe it. They finally admitted it on live TV: The prosecution of President Trump was an organized effort by the Democratic Party's' resistance.' Lawfare is real. The justice system was weaponized against President Trump."

RedState documented the Democrats' bold lawfare against Trump, which they denied, and pointed out how it would likely backfire:

Meanwhile, Hillary Clinton is still legally unpunished for her campaign's identical bookkeeping misdemeanor, which funded the "Russia, Russia, Russia" hoax in 2016.

So, there is no question that this country has entered real banana republic territory this week.

But let's go back to the politics of it all.   As I also said before, if Trump was not convicted in this New York case, the average, objective, swing voters, and Trump supporters, would only be reminded of Democrat stupidity and perfidy once, when the verdict was announced.  But, because Trump has been convicted, they will be reminded about this whenever Trump's status as a felon comes up in the news, or Trump talks about it, or the Democrat's crow about it.  And Trump has every incentive to proclaim his innocence to the world;. At the same time, Biden, the Democrats, and the MSM (but I repeat myself) are delusional, and think this is a political plus for their side, so they also have the incentive to gloat and attack Trump based on this ridiculous lawfare conviction.

Looks like we were right again!

The CNN commentator has been a one-man wrecking crew, taking down one Democrat and liberal after another. And his destruction on the network has been incredible, and at some point, one must wonder how much more they are willing to take after he's won arguments from the left about things like deportation of illegal immigrants, the election, and Tesla terrorism.
