Democrat Tony Evers has won in Wisconsin’s election for governor, according to Decision Desk HQ, and confirmed by multiple sources.
Evers’ election is a historic moment for Democrats, who haven’t won a governor’s race during a midterm election with a Democratic president since 1962, according to POLITICO.
Evers’ narrow victory comes on the same night that Republican Ron Johnson won re-election to the U.S. Senate, securing the seat and keeping Democrats from earning a majority in the chamber. Evers did give a brief statement on Twitter after the race was called.
Wisconsin, we love you.
We’re gonna polka tonight and get back to work tomorrow!

The Democrats overall had a better night than expected across the country, which candidates like Evers benefitted from.
