WABC New York (770 AM) has picked up conservative activist and Salem syndicated host Charlie Kirk in its 12-1 p.m. spot, clearing the way for Kirk to have access to his largest market yet in one of the most important hours of daytime talk radio.

Kirk is currently on the Salem Radio Network from 12-3 p.m. on weekdays. The move to WABC will feature the opening hour of his program. Until now, WABC has been filling the spot with 15 minutes of Bill O’Reilly followed by Dominic Carter.

WABC was an early home of Rush Limbaugh’s program, helping to launch Limbaugh to national radio dominance. Limbaugh’s death in February left a void in the radio world that multiple programs are seeking to fill. Kirk’s transition to WABC opens the door to his biggest market yet.

“I am thrilled and honored to take the same time and station where my friend and American hero Rush Limbaugh launched his national radio show in 1988,” Kirk said in a statement. “I am so impressed with what John Catsimatidis has done since he bought this great station, and will commit to doing my part to keep this as one of the top talk stations in America.”

Kirk also has a top-rated podcast, which ranks highly in multiple categories, including in American news and commentary. His other accomplishments, according to his SRN bio include:

Charlie Kirk is the Founder and President of Turning Point USA, a national student movement dedicated to identifying, organizing, and empowering young people to promote the principles of free markets and limited government. With a presence on over 2,000 high school and college campuses nationwide, 250,000 student members, and over 150 full-time staff, Turning Point USA is the largest and fastest growing conservative youth activist organization in the country. At just 26-years-old, Charlie has appeared on CNBC, Fox News and FOX Business News over 600 times, is an editor-at-large at Newsweek, and whose writings are often published on Fox News, The Hill, The Washington Times, Breitbart, and Daily Caller. He was named to the Forbes “30 under 30” list and was also the youngest speaker at the 2016 Republican National Convention. He’s the author of three books including the #1 Amazon and New York Times bestseller, The MAGA Doctrine: The Only Ideas that Will Win the Future from Broadside Books, an imprint of Harper Collins.
