Because we all have that kind of time right now, and who doesn’t love cookies extravagantly decorated in royal icing? Probably the Chinese Communist Party.

I’m not a baker. I like to cook because I can experiment and add things to create new flavors. Baking is a science, and I am not a great rule follower. Measurements aren’t my thing. But sugar cookies seem simple enough, and I want to try my hand at making something pretty.
