The Senate Committee on Health, Education, Labor and Pensions has voted to confirm Betsy DeVos as Secretary of Education in the Donald Trump Administration. The vote was 12-11, all along party lines.

Lamar Alexander started the hearing off with his own comments and a chastising of the Democrats on the panel for vowing to vote against DeVos even before they received her answers to the hundreds of questions they presented to her prior to the confirmation vote.

Each member got a few minutes to speak, and the vote seemed pretty clear based on their comments – all Republicans for, all Democrats against.

The nomination now moves to the Senate for a full vote.
