What could have been.
A year ago this month, Democrats were scrambling for their footing. A few months before that, Joe Biden had been awakened from his afternoon nap, handed a script and told to read some words. It took fifteen takes to complete the video. When it was done, TeamAutopen had produced a video challenging Donald Trump to a debate. Bad move. Trump quickly accepted.
Donald Trump lost two debates to me in 2020. Since then, he hasn’t shown up for a debate.

Now he’s acting like he wants to debate me again.
Well, make my day, pal. pic.twitter.com/AkPmvs2q4u
It was obvious that the “make my day pal” short had taken several takes and had been sewn together like Frankenstein’s monster. There was no doubt that there would a debate, but Joe was poking the bear for an early bout. Debate before the national conventions. Why? Why debate in June? It became obvious when Biden struggled to answer questions. After Joe augured in and then stumbled off stage, President Jill Biden patted Joe on the head and assured him he had “answered all the questions.” Had he? America saw what happened. Joe Biden was “a dead man walking.” By the next day, the DNC was searching for answers and a replacement candidate. But they knew they were stuck. Their default candidate was then-VP Harris.
By July 4, 2024, the DNC was marketing Kamala Harris as the party’s “best bet” to beat Donald Trump. But the left knew that they were stuck with a terrible choice. For four years, Harris had demonstrated a unique ability to murder the English language. The Queen of Word Salads. Harris had been picked for VP because she was a “POC” and because she was a woman. She was distinctly unqualified for the “warm bucket of spit” that is the vice presidency and by default she was entirely unqualified for the presidency. Her team managed to tap one of the worst VP picks in American history. Minnesota Gov. Tim Walz was supposed to win over the male vote with his modern version of manhood. Instead the DNC got a jazz-handing, stolen valor beta who turned into a liability.
After a billion dollars was flushed down the drain, Donald Trump was, again, president-elect.
Harris went back to doing what she did best. Blather nonsense like a 2 a.m. drunk.
KAMALA: When we think about, like these moments, where, we see things that are being taken, but also, let's see it as m-, you know, nature pours a vacuum, so where's - where there's a vacancy, then, let's fill it.

What could have been.
Since Trump took the oath of office and became the 47th president of the United States, the flood at the border stopped. At first it slowed, then it literally stopped. The claim that we needed legislation to tamp the flood of humanity was a lie. We needed a president willing to enforce existing laws. A nation without borders isn’t a nation.
DOGE would not have existed. Although there remains too much spending, without a Trump presidency it would have gone back to firehose levels.
Had Harris been elected, the southern border would have looked like a dam breach consisting of humans flooding the interior.
The downstream cultural effects of a Harris presidency cannot be minimized. Had Harris won, her presidency would have continued the cultural decay of the autopen presidency.
An apology from UPenn for allowing a man to invade women’s sports to dominate and intimidate actual women would never have happened. The Department of Education would still be insisting that Title IX means men pretending to be women was a “fair” result. States like California would have been happily allowing boys to dominate girls in sports and the federal government would have encouraged it.
With a Harris presidency, on this July 4th, we would be subjected to an endless stream of blather from Harris about the “progress" we’ve made. The nation would have been reminded that the Founders were white slave owners and even worse - men. Harris would have reminded us ad nauseum that "diversity is our strength".
We would have a Pentagon languishing in a hiring rut, unable to recruit enough able-bodied men and wondering why.
But the worst would have been yet to come. Next year, a monumental milestone would have been reached with Harris as president. Although just about every Hollywood movie seems to cast a black woman as president, at least the attempt is made to make that character competent. Harris on the other hand has fallen upwards her entire career. She is and was distinctly incompetent to be president.
Had she been elected, Kamala Harris would have been president on the 250th anniversary of the country’s founding. I suspect that had Harris been elected, she would have moved mountains to appoint the first “blind undocumented, transgender height-challenged person of color with sleep apnea" for a cabinet position, and she would have stacked the rest of her cabinet with equally incompetent, meritless people.
On this July 4th, I am most thankful for a Trump presidency because of the cultural implications of a Harris presidency would have been, well, a Harris presidency.
