Mika Brzezinksi and Joe Scarborough painted a very unflattering picture of Kellyanne Conway this morning as they explained why the embattled Presidential counselor is no longer welcome on Morning Joe. Getting banned from an MSNBC morning show is hardly a huge blow to someone’s publicity but this is one more data point suggesting that Conway is not a reliable source of information.
Mika laid down the law.
“I know for a fact she tries to book herself on this show; I won’t do it,” Brzezinski said of Conway on Wednesday morning.
“I don’t believe in fake news or information that is not true. That is — every time I’ve ever seen her on television something is askew, off or incorrect,” she added.
If you consider the various crazy people who routinely get screen time on MSNBC this seems to be hypocritical, but it doesn’t seem to be driven by any ideological differences. They just think Conway doesn’t know what she’s talking about most of the time. Still, being credible enough for MSNBC seems like a really low bar.
Co-host Joe Scarborough chimed in to say Conway may not have been knowingly spreading false information but was just making statements “to prove her relevance.”
“I don’t even think she’s saying something she knows to be untrue,” Scarborough said. “She’s just saying things just to get in front of the TV to prove her relevance because behind the scenes she’s not in these meetings and any reporter can ask anybody in that White House and they will say the same thing. She’s not in these meetings. So why does the president allow her to keep going out and spreading false information?”
Mika said Conway “is not credible anymore” and in no uncertain terms told her not to bother trying to get booked as a guest, saying “It’s not happening here.”
Conway probably won’t sweat it. I’m sure she’s got a standing invitation to go on Hannity.
