Insufferably Self Important Fashion Designer Publicly Refuses to Dress Melania Trump

Remember when it was the height of bigotry to refuse to provide service in support of belief systems you didn’t agree with? Apparently some in the fashion industry have forgotten this. Either that, or they’re just typical left wing hypocrites who want you to do as they say and not as they do.

A designer named Sophie Theallet, who is allegedly someone of whom people who care about fashion are aware, has written an open letter to tell the world that she will not design anything for the Trumps. She has dressed Michelle Obama on occasion, so some might say she’s doing the Trumps a favor. People magazine, who apparently has heard of this Sophie person, believes this sort of pretentious grandstanding is a “bold stance.”

This is a bold stance for Theallet, considering the designer has dressed First Lady Michelle Obama in the past, but in her open letter posted to her Twitter account today she made no bones about the fact that she will not be fashion to the incoming FLOTUS. In the letter, the designer writes, “As an independent fashion brand, we consider our voice an expression of our artistic and philosophical ideas. The Sophie Theallet brand stands against all discrimination and prejudice. Our runway shows, ad campaigns, and celebrity dressing have always been a celebration of diversity and a reflection of the world we live in.”

“I am well aware it is not wise to get involved in politics,” Theallet writes, “That said, as a family-owned company, our bottom line is not just about money. We value our artistic freedom and always humbly seek to contribute to a more humane, conscious and ethical way to create in this world.”

So in order to stand against discrimination and prejudice, she’s going to discriminate and be prejudiced.  She is also calling for other fashion designers to blacklist the new first lady. But dammit, you had better bake cakes for every gay wedding unless you want the state to force you out of business.

You can read Sophie’s tribute to her own overinflated ego in the open letter she humbly published on Twitter.

“Integrity is our only true currency.” Then 2016 has sure seen its share of wasted currency.

Honestly, I take no issue with Theallet refusing on principle to provide services, which we should note, she has not even been asked to do. I have issues with anyone being a such a self important gasbag about it. This is probably why I have very few leftist friends.

Sadly, Melania Trump will now be forced to buy her clothes off the rack at T.J. Maxx or possibly Walmart. After reading this letter, certainly no enterprising fashion designer could possibly be willing to suffer through the fame and compensation associated with designing clothes for a First Lady who is also a supermodel wife of a billionaire. It’s unthinkable.
