Virginia Attorney General Jay Jones is the embodiment of a DEI hire. But Jones wasn't "hired," per se. A plurality of Virginia voters elected this man over the former VA AG Jason Miyares, who has not only proven his constitutional muster, but his competence and intellect over his four-year term.
Jones rode into the AG's office on two things and two things only: He is Black, and he has a "D" after his name. Even after revelations during the 2025 election season (as RedState reported) that Jones wished death on his Republican colleague, his wife, and his children, he still received 53 percent of the vote.
The mind boggles.

However, some of them may be regretting that vote, especially since Jones' incompetence is now costing Democrats bigly and making Jones, and their Democrat cause, even more of a laughingstock.
As RedState further reported, after the VA Supreme Court ruled unconstitutional the VA Democrats' ballot initiative, which pushed a 10-1 Democrat map onto the voters, AG Jones has been swimming upstream in his own mess to get the decision overturned.

One would think that with matters of consequence such as this, one would bother to ensure their work is tight, or at the very least, have someone else vet it before they send it off to the Supreme Court of the United States.
Apparently not.
Ok, so the AG of Virginia, Jay Jones, has filed an emergency appeal to the United States Supreme Court asking them to overrule the Virginia State Supreme Courts ruling, and while he may have sent it through spellcheck this time, he failed to change templates..because this one is… pic.twitter.com/VnaSPydgAQ

Ok, so the AG of Virginia, Jay Jones, has filed an emergency appeal to the United States Supreme Court asking them to overrule the Virginia State Supreme Courts ruling, and while he may have sent it through spellcheck this time, he failed to change templates..because this one is still going to the Supreme Court of Virginia. The incompetence is mind blowing. 😆😆😆
Jones seems to want to take mind-blowing to the next level. Miyares rightly expresses his feelings of schadenfreude.
Good News: Dems managed to spell Virginia correctly. Bad News: They sent their emergency application to SCOTUS to the wrong court. Baby steps. pic.twitter.com/Izi5FeKgbo

As Miyares points out, in Jones' filing to the Virginia Supreme Court to have their maps reinstated, Jones had some difficulty spelling "Virginia" and "Senator."

In other words, he's not just incompetent, he's also lazy. This is also the same man who used his predecessor's letterhead to send out a legal opinion. When Jones debuted his seal of office, he couldn't be bothered to spell his own title correctly.
Isn't sloth a deadly sin?
The new VA Attorney General Jay Jones couldn’t wait to put out an opinion, and did so with the former Attorney General Jason Miyares' letterhead. These are the kind of idiots that are running Virginia now. Thank you to all those who voted for them. 🤡 🙄 pic.twitter.com/Vtx43VLuRS

Your AG, Jay "Two Shots" Jones, cannot even spell "attorney" correctly on his own damn logo. DEI for the win! pic.twitter.com/fQuVq8kSbJ

So, Jones deserves every bit of ratio he's getting, and then some. Even the Republican National Committee is joining the pile on. Dive in, boys and girls, the water is great!
Hope this helps @jonesjay. https://t.co/eel8gw4CYQ pic.twitter.com/7uJ5avwFfi

But my favorite is from "PolitiBunny" Sam Janey, the Managing Editor of our sister site Twitchy, and a Virginia citizen.
JUST IN! Whoa, did you guys know that @AGJayJones filed a third appeal with SCOTUS? I only just now saw a copy of it ... this could actually be the one that overturns the SCOVA ruling. pic.twitter.com/0R2P70kKaS

Now THAT's a sick burn.
Editor’s Note: The 2026 Midterms will determine the fate of President Trump’s America First agenda. Republicans must maintain control of both chambers of Congress.
