Florida Governor Ron DeSantis (R-Real Leader) is once again putting the currency of action behind his words. In March, DeSantis signed an executive order that banned critical race theory (CRT) in the State of Florida. The Florida Department of Education backed his lead and banned its tenets being taught in Florida schools, and its use within the classroom curriculum. DeSantis is taking it a step further by codifying these policy initiatives and goals into law.

In a press conference today, DeSantis introduced the Stop the Wrongs to Our Kids and Employees (W.O.K.E.) Act to give the power back to businesses, employees, parents, children, and families to decide what will be the influences on their children, and what will dictate the tone in work environments and education.

Today, Governor Ron DeSantis announced the Stop the Wrongs to Our Kids and Employees (W.O.K.E.) Act, a legislative proposal that will give businesses, employees, children and families tools to fight back against woke indoctrination. The Stop W.O.K.E. Act will be the strongest legislation of its kind in the nation and will take on both corporate wokeness and Critical Race Theory. “In Florida we are taking a stand against the state-sanctioned racism that is critical race theory,” said Governor Ron DeSantis. “We won’t allow Florida tax dollars to be spent teaching kids to hate our country or to hate each other. We also have a responsibility to ensure that parents have the means to vindicate their rights when it comes to enforcing state standards. Finally, we must protect Florida workers against the hostile work environment that is created when large corporations force their employees to endure CRT-inspired ‘training’ and indoctrination.”

Unlike certain presidents of late, DeSantis is following proper governance. Use the executive privilege to set policy goals, then draft legislation, toss it to the legislature to hash out the legalities and language further, and give opportunity for the citizens to have proper input. Then have the legislature vote in order to create established law.

This is the way.

DeSantis also included a personal “right to action” for parents specifically.

“We are going to be including in this legislation giving parents a private right of action to be able to enforce the prohibition on CRT, and they get to recover attorney’s fees when they prevail, which is very important,” DeSantis said. “A lot of times these people will fear lawsuits more than a fine from the State Department of Education.”

The personal right to action is huge. It should be in the parents’ hands to police what their children are learning, and then to take action if they do not agree with it. So, it is threading that needle between individual rights, and government responsibility.

DeSantis has been setting the tone and leading the way on what a properly run state should look like. There is a reason people are leaving poorly governed states (looking at you, California) for the Free, efficiently, and effectively-run state of Florida.
