When you’ve lost the models…
Most wouldn’t think that politics and modeling could coalesce, but as the saying goes, “Politics makes strange bedfellows.”
Two Instagram influencers have chosen to comment on the Recall of Gavin Newsom. Governor Hair Gel has been weighed in the balance, and found wanting:
From the Washington Free Beacon:
California models are urging their social media followers to oust Democratic governor Gavin Newsom, who faces a recall election in less than three weeks.
Model and actress Korrina Rico said on Tuesday she was going to spend every day until the Sept. 14 election rallying influencers to speak out against Newsom, who she says has “literally trashed the state.”
“If you wanna save the state of California, you need to vote yes,” Rico said. “I’m calling out all the influencers right now, September 14 is the day we need to recall him.”
Rico’s post elicited a response from personal chef and fellow model Chelsea Heath, who posted on her Instagram:
“If you live in the state of California, let’s please get this guy out of office! He’s done so much damage to our state and there isn’t a point of return right now, so the best thing to do is vote. I don’t care if you vote Democrat or Republican, let’s just get this guy out and get our state back to where it needs to be.”
Heath was featured in an size-inclusive July issue Sports Illustrated, so her blast to 68,000 followers has generated a lot of juice.
Apparently Rico voted for His Hairfulness in 2018, but has had a change of heart. She now supports Larry Elder for governor.
“I know there’s a lot of controversy because one of the top running candidates, Larry Elder, is quote unquote Republican,” Rico said. “He’s an African American man who grew up in South Central on the street. This is not a career politician from a family of generational wealth, that has no idea what it’s like to live on the streets.”
You know it’s getting really bad when the Hollywood-adjacent Millennial and Zoomer set want nothing to do with you. While these young women have a presence, they haven’t reached the pinnacles of success that they would probably like; and with this governor at the helm, killing employment and entrepreneurial opportunities, and causing business to flee the State, they know they never will.
Newsom was issued another blow with Hispanics and Latinos, when former State Senate Leader Gloria Romero endorsed Larry Elder in the Recall election. Romero said she believes in charter schools and school choice, and so does Larry Elder. Gavin Newsom does not.
The killer line:
“Yes, I’m a Democrat. But the Recall of Gavin Newsom is not about political party: It’s about Newsom.”
