Nebraska is an odd duck state. While they are pushing Blue State woke ideology in terms of education, when it comes to the 2nd Amendment, they seem to be strict constitutionalists, and Governor Pete Ricketts has taken a stand to protect his citizens’ right to bear arms, WOTW and the Associated Press reported:

Gov. Pete Ricketts on Wednesday signed a proclamation declaring Nebraska a “Second Amendment Sanctuary State.”

In the proclamation posted on the governor’s website, Ricketts again attacks the Biden administration’s recent push for new gun control measures and holds Congress accountable for the same.

“Nebraska will stand up against federal overreach and attempts to regulate gun ownership and use in the Good Life.

The White House and U.S. Congress have announced their intention to pursue measures that would infringe on the right to keep and bear arms.

A growing number of counties in Nebraska have declared themselves as ‘Second Amendment Sanctuary’ counties.

Nebraska will continue to take any necessary step to defend our right to keep and bear arms.”

This follows on the heels of Arizona. Last week, Governor Doug Ducey signed into law the 2nd Amendment Firearm Freedom Act (HB 2111), which prevents state personnel and financial resources from being used to enforce any gun laws that are not in agreement with the gun laws of the state.

Governors and legislatures in Wyoming, Texas, and even Oregon have declared either their entire state or specific counties as 2A sanctuaries. Even before President Joe Biden’s April 8 declaration of gun control measures, states have been moving to either create or deepen their gun rights laws. Biden’s appointment of David Chipman to head the Bureau of Alcohol Tobacco and Firearms is also making pro-2A governors leery.
