The school argues that the move violates the school’s right to religious freedom.

This is one of many legal actions that need to happen against state governments using their positions to compel other people to adhere to progressive gender ideology.

Mid Vermont Christian School says they were barred from all athletic play after forfeiting against a Long Trail girls high school basketball team that had a biological male on their team on Feb. 21.

The Christian PK-12 school says they were “irreparably harmed by being denied participation” and “losing out on playing competitive sports as well as academic competitions,” their lawsuit, filed by Alliance Defending Freedom (ADF), reads.

The ADF is a Christian legal advocacy group that works to defend and preserve freedom of speech to expand Christian practices within public schools and in government, outlaw abortion, and curtail LGBTQ rights — their website states.

Immediate action was taken by the Vermont Principal’s Association (VPA) following Mid Vermont’s decision to cancel their game against Long Trail, stating the school violated it’s policies on “commitment to racial, gender-fair, and disability awareness” and on “gender identity.”

The VPA initially put out a statement back in February saying “VPA policies prohibit discrimination and/or harassment of students on school property or at school functions by students or employees.”

Jay Nichols, executive director of VPA, defended the decision to ban the school: “If you don’t want to follow VPA rules, that’s fine. But then you’re just not a VPA member.”

However, the school’s leadership has pushed back, arguing that the decision was unfair and compelling female athletes to compete against biological males is not safe. Vicky Fogg, head of Mid Vermont Christian School said that canceling its membership “is not a solution and does nothing to deal with the very real issue of safety and fairness facing women’s sports in our beloved state.”

On Tuesday, a similar situation was reported in Massachusetts when a girl’s basketball team had to forfeit a game because a biological male on the other team had injured three female players.

But here's what makes this case remarkable: The Lowell team forfeited the game after the injuries suffered by three actual, you know, girls on their girls' team, but after explaining the reasons for their forfeiture in a statement, Lowell went on to include a Stockholm Syndrome-like statement weaseling their way around the fundamental issue, namely that a boy was allowed to unfairly overpower the girls on the court. However, the statement also alluded to the remaining healthy girls expressing "concern" to their coach about continuing to play.

"Once the third was injured, the remaining five expressed concern to him about continuing to play. The players feared getting injured and not being able to compete in the playoffs.

"In an effort to maintain safety for his team, he decided to forfeit. The Charter School supports this decision and reiterates its values of both inclusivity and safety for all students. We take the standards set by the MIAA and our Board of Trustees seriously and strive to uphold them on and off the court. We also follow the guidance from the MIAA and state laws regarding equity and access for all student-athletes."

Footage of the male player violently throwing the girl athletes around went viral on social media, raising a considerable level of outrage online.

This lawsuit is part of the larger struggle against progressive efforts to force everyone else to conform to their ridiculous ideas about gender identity. 

As I’ve argued before, the effort to force female athletes to compete against biological males will continue as long as sane people are unwilling to stand against it. In this case, the school is using lawfare to prevent rabid leftists from placing female athletes in danger – and we will need more of this if we are going to protect females in sports.
