Tons of anti-Israel activists descended on the City of Angels on Black Friday to disrupt those trying to get a head start on their Christmas shopping. Demonstrations occurred all over the city in which participants marched through the streets and chanted pro-Palestinian slogans.
Hundreds gathered in the Fairfax District of Los Angeles, marching through city streets and converging on The Grove shopping center as part of a nationwide effort to call for an immediate ceasefire in the Israel-Hamas war and advocating for a cessation of U.S. aid to the Jewish State.
A large group of pro-Palestine protesters moved through The Grove shopping center just before noon on Black Friday, carrying a giant banner that read "No Business as Usual."
Organizers of the Shut it Down for Palestine effort say the message behind the march is to "Make it clear that there will be no business as usual until Palestine is free," according to the ANSWER Coalition.
The group issued the international call to action to boycott, disrupt and rally at commercial centers on Black Friday, Nov. 24.
"We must keep building momentum and increase the pressure with more marches, walk-outs, sit-ins and other forms of direct action directed at the political offices, businesses and workplaces that fund, invest, and collaborate with Israeli genocide and occupation," wrote shutitdown4palestine on its website.
The protests began on Thursday when protesters showed up at the home of Michael Tuchin, the president of the American Israel Public Affairs Committee (AIPAC), and set off smoke bombs, splattering fake blood, and chanting slogans.
RIGHT NOW: people are out in front of @AIPAC president Michael Tuchin’s house in Los Angeles for a holiday wake up call!

On Black Friday, footage showed protesters marching and even blocking streets as they protested against Israel. Organized by groups like the ANSWER Coalition, the rallies were intended to block the usual flow of Black Friday shopping and send a clear message that normalcy would not resume until the Palestinian cause is recognized.

15k+ Palestinians have lost their lives to the genocidal settler colony called Israel over the past month. We will honor all of them.

The Los Angeles Police Department (LAPD) is closely monitoring the situation, focusing on maintaining safety while respected the First Amendment rights of those protesting peacefully.
This is only the latest in a series of protests held by the pro-Hamas and pro-Palestinian crowd. As of this writing, the demonstrations have not gotten violent. But if other protests have been any indication, it is certainly a possibility.
