Tennis Legend Fires Back at Lia Thomas' Accusations of Transphobia Among Feminists

It’s always nice to see women speaking out against the push to allow biological males to compete in women’s sports. As I’ve pointed out before, if we want to make sure this movement does not succeed, it will require more female athletes to come out against it.

Tennis icon Martina Navratilova criticized Lia Thomas, a transgender swimmer, over the issue of biological men competing in female sports. Thomas, a man who identifies as a woman, criticized feminists that don’t support transgender women competing in women’s athletic categories on the “Dear Schuyler” podcast. He claimed these feminists likely have an “implicit bias.”

Navratilova pushed back, saying that it is unfair for transgender women to compete in women’s categories and called Thomas out for telling feminists what to think. The tennis legend cheered the World Athletics’ decision to prohibit biological males from competing in women’s sports in March, suggesting the creation of a new category for transgender athletes to compete.

“You can’t really have that sort of half support where you’re like, ‘oh, I respect her as a woman here but not here,’” Thomas said on the podcast. “They’re using the guise of feminism to sort of push transphobic beliefs.”

Navratilova responded, telling Thomas to “stop explaining feminism to feminists.” She tweeted:

Lia Thomas Says Her Critics Using ‘Feminism’ Claims To Hide Transphobia- NEWSFLASH Lia- it’s not fair. We shouldn’t have to explain it to you over and over. Also- stop explaining feminism to feminists….

Thomas faced much-deserved criticism in 2022 when he competed against and defeated biological women to secure an NCAA title. Navratilova pointed out that there is no way to erase the physical advantage that someone gains after going through male puberty, even if they lower their testosterone levels.

“Biological females are most likely to compete in the biological female category, as that’s their best shot at winning and it maintains the principle of fairness. With an ‘open’ category there are no question marks, no provisos, no asterisks, no doubts. It’s a simple solution,” Navratilova said, according to Marca.

“Once somebody has gone through male puberty, there is no way to erase that physical advantage. You cannot simply turn back the clock, for instance by trying to lower testosterone levels,” the tennis legend added.

Despite what the hard left would have you think, Navratilova is right to criticize the inclusion of biological men in female sports because it gives them a clearly unfair advantage over biological females. Transgender women who were born male have gone through male puberty and have developed male bone structure, muscle mass, and lung capacity, which cannot be reversed through hormone therapy or surgery. This advantage can make it difficult for biological females to compete on a level playing field and win, undermining the principle of fair competition in sports.

Unfortunately, so-called progressives seem to think they can gaslight, or shame, the public into believing that there are no meaningful physical differences between men and women. They have had far too much success when it comes to influencing major institutions to buy into this folderol. It seems that folks are going along with the hard left’s agenda to avoid being called transphobic. However, stories like this suggest that this could be changing soon.
