Will Democrats Choose Sanity or Wokeism After Their Impending Defeat?

Democrats will have some serious decisions to make after their upcoming losses in the midterm elections. After November, the party will be standing at a crossroads, and the road they choose to take will likely determine the success of its political future.

The choice set before the Democrats will be between sanity and wokeism. They will have to choose whether they will continue pandering to the religious zealots of the wokeist left or start crawling back towards the center, where rational folks live.

It is too late for the Democrats to walk away from wokeism in time to make a difference in the midterm elections. Their commitment to pushing this ideology in the government has already done its damage, and Americans are not on that particular train.

During an appearance on comedian Bill Burr’s podcast, HBO host Bill Maher predicted Republican victories in November in large part due to the Democrats’ off-putting obsession with woke politics.

“[Republicans are] definitely going to win,” Maher said, noting how the left has become disconnected from average Americans. He continued:

“I’m on Fox News all the time because I will — Look, I will take on … it’s just that just that I am very much a critic of what goes on on the fringe of the left. I mean woke culture has just, that’s one reason why the Republicans are going to do so well in this election, because the left has gone super crazy with lots of shit that the average American just never voted for, doesn’t recognize in this country, doesn’t want.”

This is not the first time Maher, who is decidedly left-leaning, has decried the fixation on woke politics among Democrats. During a conversation with Variety, he expressed similar sentiments, asserting that the party’s biggest problem was its “woke baggage.”

“I think the Democrats could easily win every election if they didn’t do the kind of things that make people go, ‘Oh my God, this is the party of no common sense.’ Stop talking about pregnant men and stuff that makes people go, ‘Who are these [expletive] people? What are they talking about?’” he said.

“Men don’t get pregnant,” he added.

Even individuals within the party have warned against diving too deeply into the woke ocean. Upon leaving the Democratic Party, former presidential candidate Tulsi Gabbard excoriated Democrats for fomenting “anti-white racism” and undermining “our God-given freedoms.”

“If you can no longer stomach the direction the so-called woke Democratic Party ideologues are taking our country, then I invite you to join me,” she said.

Even former President Barack Obama scolded Democrats over this issue. In an interview on a podcast, he  pointed out that “people just want to not feel as if they are walking on eggshells” and that “they want some acknowledgment that life is messy and that all of us at any given moment can say things the wrong way, make mistakes.”

Obama was referring to the tendency on the part of far leftists to cancel and attack those who say things that do not align with the precepts of the woke religion.

To sum it all up, the hyper-obsession with race, intersectionality, and cancel culture hasn’t played well with normal folks, who just want to live their lives. There are plenty on the left who recognize how foolhardy it was to continually give a wink and nod to so-called progressives seeking to wokify as many American institutions as they possibly can.

Democrats can reverse their ill fortunes if they choose to walk away from the woke crowd. They can select the road back closer to the middle. This would help them repair the damage done to their political health.

On the other hand, the party can keep pandering to the wokies. They can continue pursuing their version of a Marxist utopia. This will only make them less relatable to the plebes, even those who previously voted Democrat. But even further, it will only make it harder for them to win future elections.
