They Want Your Children and Are Willing to Use the Government to Get Them

I usually don’t do sensational headlines like this one. But it is hard for me to be “fair and nuanced” on an issue like this, which is clearly so wicked that it’s hard to see that there isn’t more outrage about it.

There are progressives who are willing to go to any lengths to create a society in which the government takes precedence over the wishes of parents when it comes to educating their children. Indeed, some have suggested that the state should be able to remove children from their homes if the parents are not affirming of their chosen gender identity.

While many are not as bold in declaring these radical views in public, there are times when one of these folks will say the quiet part out loud – especially if they think nobody is listening to them. This is what happened during an October 4 school board meeting in Prince William County (PWC) in Virginia.

PWC Supervisor Kenny Boddye, a Democrat and surrogate for Rep. Abigail Spanberger (D-VA), who is running for re-election, expressed these sentiments when responding to a question.

An attendee asked Boddye:

“Recently announced by the group [Pride Liberation Project] was that they were establishing, forgive me for one moment, it was the, affirming households is what they were establishing. That adults could take in kids that feel like that they’re not being affirmed at home so that they can come live and reside with that adult. What are your thoughts on that policy?”

The surrogate gave a lengthy answer in which he said something like this “would have to be very carefully looked at,” and intimated such a measure might be acceptable if “it’s a family friend” or “family member.”

He continued, seeming to indicate that the foster care system might be able to step in if parents are not adequately affirming their child’s gender identity.

“Obviously, we have other systems in place for other types of care for children, you know, foster care, you have adoption programs, you have temporary situations with kinship care, and things like that. So I would like to see if there’s going to be a policy like that a lot of the guardrails put in place with like, with those programs, so that if it is deemed like, hey, this is a safe environment for this child, that person has passed a background check and everything else to know that they’re safe and their home has been checked … that’s one thing, but we wouldn’t need those kind of guardrails in place, before I would support something like that.”

The questioner then went a step further and asked whether Boddye believes it is “warranted” to have a child taken from their home if they are not “having their gender identity affirmed in the household.”

The surrogate replied:

“That’s a good question. And I think that there’s a gradient there. It’s obviously best when parents are affirming their kids. That’s what I believe in. I affirm my kids every single day. But there’s a big gradient between affirming your kids, not affirming your kids and being downright abusive and unwelcoming and intolerant and deadnaming your kid and what have you. I think that, like in any situation, there needs to be due diligence of what’s going on in the home. I would love it if every parent affirmed their kid, but I think there’s a difference between affirming their kid, and neglect and abuse. If neglect and abuse and you know, emotional abuse is happening as a result of that lack of affirming, then there’s a situation that I think really needs to be looked into.”

I’m sure I don’t need to explain why Boddye’s answers should be disturbing, right?

But that’s not the only example of leftists seeking to force parents to indoctrinate their children in leftist ideology. On Columbus Day, which fell on this past Monday, Virginia Senate candidate Tina Ramirez posted a tweet saying, “Wishing you and your family a Happy Columbus Day!”

Regardless of what one thinks of Christopher Columbus, it was a pretty harmless tweet. But far left-wing media activist David Leavitt gave birth to a calf when he saw it. He responded: “Why are you celebrating torture, rape, murder, and enslavement?”

Ramirez clapped back, explaining that she teaches her daughter “real American history” and that she refuses to “join the radical left’s campaign to erase history.”

Apparently, that set Leavitt off, and he responded by trying to persuade his followers to call child protective services (CPS) on Ramirez for supposedly “teaching her child to be a racist.”

He later posted tweets telling his audience that he was on hold with CPS and was waiting to speak with an agent ostensibly to possibly have them take Ramirez’s daughter away from her.

It is unclear whether he actually spoke with a live human. But the fact that he was willing to add to Virginia’s backlog and take up time that could be used by people who are reporting genuine instances of child abuse illustrates even further how depraved he and his ilk are.

But this type of thinking didn’t just crop up recently; it started years ago.

In 2018, the authorities removed a teenager who was experiencing gender dysphoria from their home against the parents’ wishes and kept him for a month. The justification? The parents were not affirming of his gender identity and attempted to persuade him to believe he was not transgender.

Additionally, there have been numerous reports of divorced parents losing custody of their children because the court decides they are not affirming enough of their gender identity. It is clear that progressives have been able to use the legal system to ensure the unopposed transing of children. It might be harder to use the government to enforce progressive views on race in 2022; Leavitt’s call would have gone nowhere even if he reached someone. But we cannot doubt that leftists are working to make this normal.

These people want the U.S. to be more like Canada, where the government has little to no obstacles when it comes to forcing parents to embrace transgenderism in their kids. The nation hasn’t quite gone that far yet. But if there isn’t enough resistance, it could very well occur in the future.
