Of all the reasons for leftists to be fake mad at Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis, this has got to be the absolute dumbest. After the governor held an event in which he signed both the Stop WOKE Act and a bill stripping Disney of its special status into law, high-profile black progressive tap-dancers began their typical tap-dance routine and hurled false accusations of racism.
In this episode, they took issue with the fact that DeSantis had the temerity to have black people on the stage during the event. The fact that there were black children seemed to be of particular concern for some reason. MSNBC’s resident tap-dancing race-baiter, Joy Reid, posted her faux outrage on Twitter, accusing the governor of “child abuse,” because of course she did. She tweeted:
This mis-use of Black boys is tantamount to child abuse. I would really like to hear the back-story on who these kids were and how they wound up at a DeSantis event. Given how anti-Black DeSantis is, using Black children this way is extra sick.

Florida state Senator Shevrin Jones said DeSantis having young black men at the event was somehow “indoctrination.” He wrote:
The fact that @GovRonDeSantis had these Black young men, who are not clear on this message, holding up a sign about something they know nothing about is the real indoctrination.

Cliff Albright, co-founder of Black Voters Matter, also weighed in, agreeing with Reid’s asinine tweet:
I’ll bet there are some pissed Black parents in FL who had NO idea their kids were being used for this propaganda. As Joy says in this thread, hopefully some journalists will share their stories.
BTW, @BlackVotersMtr is suing DeSantis for his racist maps, & WE WILL WIN (again)!

Of course, the complaints these folks were making were based completely on nonsense. Indeed, Reid, an activist who pretends to be a journalist, never even bothered to find out any background on the event or the people who were on the stage. However, Christina Pushaw, DeSantis’ press secretary set the record straight:
I was working at this event and helped with the set up. My colleague talked to all the kids beforehand & told them what the issue was & what bills @GovRonDeSantis was signing. Hundreds of people attended this event; those ~50 who ended up on stage freely chose to stand on stage.

Of course, Pushaw’s tweet isn’t going to change anything for these people because the truth is the last thing they care about. Reid and her ilk are concerned with pushing a narrative, not getting to the facts. For them, this was just another opportunity to call someone racist and put on a social media show for their beloved white progressives — nothing more, nothing less. But realistically, what else would we expect?
