Black Democrats Already Blaming Midterm Losses on 'Voter Suppression'

I predicted it earlier, and it’s already happening. Democrats are concocting excuses for upcoming midterm losses, which are likely to be devastating to the leftist agenda. Black Democratic lawmakers are claiming that when they lose – which they will – it will be because Republicans passed legislation that will supposedly make it impossible for black people to vote. Indeed, they are already challenging the outcome of the upcoming elections.

Rep. G.K. Butterfield (D-NC) declared that “[v]oters will be suppressed this election, no question,” according to the Washington Times. “States are passing discriminatory laws that will definitely result in not just the suppression of the African American vote, but also voters who tend to vote with the Democratic parties.”

Rep. Marilyn Strickland (D-WA), who, along with Butterfield, is a member of the Congressional Black Caucus, called for federal legislation to ease voting laws. “There is clearly an effort to suppress the vote and make it harder for people to vote,” she insisted. “We definitely need some legislation at the federal level to address this.”

Rep. Hank Johnson (D-GA) claimed Republicans are attempting to skew elections in their favor by imposing voter suppression laws that would somehow prevent black Americans from casting their votes.

“They look at who votes Democratic and then they try to focus their suppression efforts on various demographics, and it’s definitely intentional,” he said. “It’s done in response to the Big Lie and a false premise to tighten rules and target those rules to those who vote primarily for Democrats, in an effort to win the 2022 and ‘24 elections.”

Naturally, none of these individuals bothered to provide a shred of evidence that voting laws passed in red states would prevent black people from voting. This is not surprising, because it’s clear they are lying.

At the beginning of 2022, Democrats made voting rights a central issue of their platform, attempting to pass two federal election laws that would have essentially placed the federal government in charge of state and local races. These proposals were ostensibly designed to prevent what Democrats cynically labeled as “Jim Crow 2.0.”

From the Washington Times:

The Democrat-run House last year passed a more than 800-page page bill, dubbed the For The People Act, which failed to muster the 60 votes needed to survive in the upper chamber.

The bill would have required automatic registration for voters, forced states to adopt same-day registration, and expanded mail-in voting while overriding voter ID requirements in the 35 states that have such laws in place.

The John Lewis Voting Rights Act, which passed the House earlier this year, also died in a GOP filibuster in the Senate. It would have expanded early voting and secured Election Day as a federal holiday.

President Joe Biden added his voice to the chorus of leftists voice singing the Jim Crow 2.0 tune. He even went so far as to compare those opposing the voting legislation to Bull Connor and other proponents of actual Jim Crow. The strategy was to use black trauma to manipulate the nation into thinking they were somehow back in the 1960s again.

The objective was obvious. Biden and his merry band of Democratic lawmakers knew the legislation would fail. But they pushed it because they wanted to pre-emptively develop a narrative explaining why they will lose in November. They already know the writing is on the wall, and that they are about as likely to keep control of Congress after the midterm elections as Michael Moore is to go on a vegan diet. They pushed the voting rights legislation to make it easier to excuse their upcoming shellacking and pretend they didn’t lose because they are out of touch with the American public. They don’t want people looking at Biden’s abysmal performance in the White House. Instead, they seek to use voting rights as a shiny object with which to distract voters.

Unfortunately for the Democrats, there is absolutely no way this strategy will work. When they lose, nobody is going to believe it was because black people were not allowed to vote. Americans will see that it is the Democrats’ awful policies that contributed to their inevitable demise — because, in the end, it is they who have suffered from skyrocketing crime rates, surging gas prices, inflation, and a host of other problems the Democrats have failed to address. But, I suppose we can’t blame them for trying.
