Those who are sick and tired of having to wrap their faces in cotton whenever they need to travel might soon be getting some positive news. Texas has filed a lawsuit against the Biden administration over federal mask mandates being imposed in airplanes and airports.
“The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention’s (CDC) mandate was unlawfully issued. It was not authorized by Congress, and the CDC did not put the mandate up for notice and comment, which is ordinarily required for regulations like this,” according to a statement released by Texas Attorney General Ken Paxton, the Texas Public Policy Foundation, and Rep. Beth Van Duyne. “Yet a person’s failure to comply with the Administration’s mask mandate carries criminal penalties.”
Paxton issued a statement saying the White House’s “repeated disregard of the individual liberties of Texans is not only disrespectful to the U.S. Constitution, it is also troublesome that any president thinks they can act above the law while hardworking Americans standby.”
The statement continues, arguing that the president “cannot continue governing through executive edicts.”
Fox News explained:
Paxton has successfully sued the Biden administration numerous times over coronavirus mandates and was issued an injunction in December against Biden’s plan to mandate federal healthcare workers submit to coronavirus vaccinations.
The mask mandates were supposed to expire late last year, but President Joe Biden used the Omicron variant as an excuse to extend them further. As it stands currently, the measure does not expire until March 18, unless the White House cooks up another reason to continue enacting the useless measure.
The CEOs of American Airlines and Southwest Airlines testified in front of Congress last December, and explained that masks are not necessary when traveling by airplane. RedState’s Jennifer O’Connell wrote:
Technology appears to be doing the work of mitigating the risk of COVID spread, while removing the need for the additional step of masks. Their use is mere symbolism, but, it will be a long time before anyone gives up that control.
News about Texas’ lawsuit is not welcome news for members of the COVID regime. White House Chief Medical Adviser Dr. Anthony Fauci previously said we should not even be having conversations about doing away with mask mandates on airplanes.
“We want to make sure people keep their masks on,” he said. “I think the idea of taking masks off, in my mind, is really not something we should even be considering.”
Fauci also contended that masks in airports and airplanes should become a permanent solution.
Nevertheless, one of the left’s favorite mask mandates is now in the crosshairs. As it becomes more apparent that masks are not necessary, it will not be easy for the COVID regime to create more justifications for keeping them in place. Democratic governors are already dropping mask mandates indoors, and the school requirements are expected to be jettisoned in the near future.
Even in San Francisco, parents just voted to fire three city council members for being more concerned with pursuing a wokeism-inspired agenda than with figuring out how to get kids back to learning in school. The COVID regime had a decent run, unfortunately. But now, the end is near. At this point, it is not a matter of “if” but “when.”
