GOP Lawmaker to Tackle Military Political Bias Against Conservatives

At a time when members of the military can get fired for expressing anti-woke positions and when the Pentagon is looking at spying on its service members, it is becoming more necessary for people to fight back. Rep. Mike Rogers (R-AL) is preparing to do just that.

Rogers, the top Republican in the House Armed Services Committee, which oversees the military, released a statement expressing his concerns over reports that conservatives are being silenced by leadership. “I am greatly concerned by numerous press reports of conservative voices being silenced in the Department of Defense while Departmental leadership defends and protects left-leaning voices,” he said.

He continued: “The United States Armed Forces should be focused on preparing to face and win any battles against the threats posed by China and other foreign adversaries and not imposing political beliefs on those who chose to serve in uniform.”

The lawmaker’s statement comes after reports that former Space Force commander Matthew Lohmeier was relieved of his duties in his unit after he gave interviews discussing his new book in which he warned about Marxism and critical race theory (CRT) becoming more prevalent in the Armed forces. But he is not the only one who has been targeted for punishment for wrongthink.

Breitbart News reported: “Chaplain Maj. Andrew Calvert came under command investigation in January after he commented on a news article about Defense Secretary Lloyd Austin’s support for President Joe Biden ending a service ban on transgender people.”

Calvert wrote on Facebook:

How is rejecting reality not evidence that a person is mentally unfit, and thus making that person unqualified to serve. There is little difference in this than over those who believe and argue for a ‘flat earth,’ despite the overwhelming evidence to the contrary.

“The motivation is different,” he continued, “but the argument is the same. This person is a MedBoard for Mental Wellness waiting to happen. What a waste of military resources and funding!”

An investigation found that Calvert was in violation of Army policy regarding discrimination and online misconduct as well as a Defense Department directive limiting political speech by active duty service members. He received a letter of reprimand in April which stated that Calvert’s “actions cast serious doubt upon your character and future as a leader in the Army.”

Rep. Rogers revealed that he and his colleagues “hear regularly” from both active duty and retired service members about being punished for expressing right-leaning thought.

“My Republican colleagues and I hear regularly from active duty and retired service members that even holding conservative values is now enough to endanger a servicemember’s military career,” he said.

He continued: “I believe that this is an issue that must be addressed in this year’s [National Defense Authorization Act] and look forward to working with my Republican colleagues on the committee and any free-speech minded Democrats interested in joining our cause.”

The hard left has been stepping up its efforts to create a culture of wokeism in America’s military. Since soon after President Joe Biden took office, his Defense secretary, Lloyd Austin, has been injecting woke tenets and critical race theory into the Armed Forces. Now, it appears leadership is taking it further and using various methods of punishment to enforce compliance with a sort of woke code of conduct.

It is similar to what the Marxist crowd is doing in other American institutions. Unfortunately, this trend will only continue if Republicans don’t do something about it. Hopefully, more people will join with Rep. Rogers in protecting soldiers who are not on board with the progressive agenda.
