Ten Democratic members of Congress have decided to join with the NAACP’s lawsuit against former President Donald Trump which alleges he incited the U.S. Capitol riots on Jan. 6. After failing to impeach Trump after he was already out of office, it appears Democrats are taking their TDS group therapy session to the courts.

The Hill reported:

The group of lawmakers joining the case includes House Judiciary Committee Chairman Jerry Nadler (N.Y.), a House prosecutor in Trump’s first impeachment trial, as well as progressive Rep. Pramila Jayapal (Wash.) and three former chairs of the Congressional Black Caucus, California Reps. Barbara Lee, Karen Bass and Maxine Waters.

Rep. Lee released a statement in which she claimed Trump “trampled our democracy, inciting a violent mob of white supremacists to overturn a free and fair election.”

Not to be outdone, Rep. Nadler added: “This violence was anything but spontaneous; it was the direct result of a conspiracy to incite a riot, instigated by President Trump, Rudolph Giuliani, the Proud Boys and the Oath Keepers.”

There is a reason why #BlueAnon is a thing.

The lawsuit also targets Trump lawyer Rudy Giuliani and right-wing groups like the Oath Keepers and Proud Boys, which it accuses of domestic terrorism and white supremacy. I wonder how these people feel about Antifa – ah, never mind.

NAACP President and CEO Derrick Johnson released a statement explaining the reason for the legal action. “What we witnessed on January 6, 2021, was the climax of a meticulously organized coup incited by Donald Trump that placed Members of Congress and the integrity of our democracy in peril,” he lied.

The plaintiffs assert that Trump allegedly violated federal laws related to what is known as the Ku Klux Klan Act, which was passed in 1871 during Reconstruction. It was one of several measures designed to curb racially motivated violence against African Americans after the Civil War. The provision that they intend to use against Trump was designed “to prevent, by force, intimidation, or threat, any person from accepting or holding any office.”

Of course, anyone with a shred of common sense can see this lawsuit for what it is: A naked attempt to wage lawfare against the former president. In the final moments of his presidency, the hard left was salivating at the thought of using the courts to enact their revenge against Trump for making them weep like George Harrison’s guitar for four years straight.

This lawsuit is only one of many that are being filed against Trump. But this one in particular, is not likely to go very far. Indeed, it will meet the same fate as the Ringling Bros. circus that was the second impeachment effort. Those involved with the lawsuit know this. But, as they say, the show must go on.
