For all its expressions of concern for black and brown communities, far-leftist don’t seem to be bothered by the migrant children being sold into sex slavery and other types of trafficking. In fact, you would be hard-pressed to find a left-leaning, activist media outlet or a Democratic politician drawing attention to the tragic circumstances faced by many of the unaccompanied minors attempting to enter the United States because of President Joe Biden’s promises.

However, several Republican politicians have lamented the plight of children being trafficked for forced labor and sex slavery. Breitbart News reported that Rep. Maria Salazar (R-FL) noted that the increase in migrants traveling to the southern border has been a “huge market” for “child sex trafficking.

During a press briefing with Salazar and other Republican officials, Rep. Burgess Owens (R-UT) pointed out that human trafficking is “slavery” and noted that “30 percent of the women and girls coming through this [migration] process are going to be raped.”

Rep. Owens also explained that some parents will send their child to the U.S. southern border with “false hope,” and many of them never hear from their children because they are killed along the way.

“President Biden should be ashamed of himself. Ashamed. This was preventable,” Owens insisted, “There are people suffering, going through misery because they were given false hope.”

Sen. Lindsey Graham (R-SC) and Florida Reps. Mario Diaz-Balart and Carlos Giménez were also on the call with reporters.

“We are in essence funding sex trafficking,” Rep. Diaz-Balart said. He continued:

“This is a humanitarian crisis. We are talking about thousands of girls who are being raped in the course of trying to reach the southern border. We are talking about the fact that now the United States, by this policy and rhetoric of President Biden’s administration … [is] financing the coyotes and the human trafficking cartels on the southern border of the United States.”

Giménez urged President Joe Biden to reinstate at least some of the measures implemented by the Trump administration. “Not everything that was put in by the previous administration needs to be dismantled. Those policies were working, the border was under control, and we could handle the situation. We need to get back to that and do better,” he said.

On Wednesday, Texas Gov. Greg Abbott brought up the sex trafficking issue during a press conference. “We must get to the bottom of human trafficking and put an end to it,” he said. “My expectation is today the Biden administration will step up and do its job to address the sex trafficking component.”

As of this writing, there has been no reporting about this issue from any mainstream activist media outlets. No Democratic politician has made a public statement regarding the matter, nor has any major figure on the left proposed a solution to this problem.

The silence is rather odd, considering the Democrats’ incessant virtue signaling about how they care about brown people trying to get a better life in the United States. Despite constantly berating conservatives as xenophobes for wanting stricter enforcement of our immigration laws, they are looking the other way when it comes to the sex trafficking problem. Indeed, only a tiny number of them have lamented the “kids in cages” under the Biden administration.

What’s striking about this situation is that they are not even pretending to care anymore. Years ago, if this happened, they would at least feign concern. But now, they are only concerned about getting as many legal and illegal immigrants into the country as possible.

At this point, there is only one realistic conclusion to come to: hard-left Democrats are only interested in importing new voters and gaining an electoral advantage and they are willing to allow children to be sold into slavery to get it. Unfortunately, for all their talk, it does not seem that Republicans are willing to do anything to deal with the issue, either.
