After a year of howling about former President Donald Trump’s handling of the COVID-19 pandemic and blaming him for the hundreds of thousands of people who died from the virus, the activist media and Democratic leaders have shown that they didn’t really care all that much about the outbreak after all. Indeed, since the news broke about New York Gov. Andrew Cuomo deliberately concealing the true number of coronavirus deaths that have occurred on his watch, major left-leaning activist media outlets have looked the other way.

CNN and MSNBC, two of the most popular activist media organizations have been ignoring the bombshell story about members of Cuomo’s administration juicing the COVID numbers to protect itself from criticism. RedState’s ShipWreckedCrew reported:

On Thursday it was revealed that a Secretary to the Governor, Melissa De Rosa, apologized to lawmakers in a conference call for purposely withholding the accurate information.  Not included in the data on the DOH website were deaths of nursing homes’ patients who were hospitalized with COVID-19, and died while still in the hospital or some other location like an assisted-living facility. The actual number of nursing homes’ patients who died of COVID-19 is over 15,000.

Fox News reported, “liberal networks CNN and MSNBC continued to protect embattled New York Gov. Andrew Cuomo on Thursday night, completely ignoring the latest news on the Democratic governor’s growing nursing home scandal during primetime.”

The news outlet noted that “the revelation prompted condemnations and even talk of impeachment in Albany.” Rep. Lee Zeldin (R-NY) called for the Justice Department to open an obstruction of justice investigation. “However, CNN and MSNBC didn’t feel it was newsworthy enough to crack their primetime coverage,” according to Fox News, which also noted that “a search of transcripts found that the words ‘nursing homes’ and ‘Andrew Cuomo’ weren’t uttered once on Thursday night during the primetime hours of 8-11 p.m. on CNN or MSNBC.”

Throughout 2020 as the coronavirus pandemic resulted in the deaths of thousands of New Yorkers and led to the shutdowns of many small businesses, activist media outlets like CNN and MSBNC found it impossible to remove their puckered lips from Gov. Cuomo’s derriere. They continually lavished praise on the governor, pretending that his handling of the virus was nothing less than exemplary.

Members of the activist press like CNN’s Chris “Fredo” Cuomo, who happens to be the governor’s brother, even gave him a pass on the burgeoning nursing home scandal that killed thousands of New York residents. These deaths were a result of the governor’s ordering nursing homes to admit patients who had, or were suspected of having COVID-19. “The decision created an onslaught of COVID-19 cases that infected thousands of elderly patients and resulted in hundreds of deaths among the state’s most vulnerable population.”

CNN’s fangirling over Cuomo was particularly egregious. The activist media outlet continually had Chris Cuomo interview his brother which created a veritable “Brothers Cuomo Comedy” segment in which the two joked around about various issues as if they were sipping Zimas and strawberry daquiris at their local bar.

Imagine for a second how these activist media outlets would react if Cuomo had an “R” next to his name? Well, we don’t need to imagine because we can just look at how these faux journalists covered Trump’s handling of the COVID crisis. They have been on a year-long campaign to convince the American public that each and every coronavirus death is somehow Trump’s fault, and will continue to do so even under a Biden administration.

If the far-left media activist establishment truly cared about the impact of the coronavirus, they would scrutinize EVERY public official’s handling of the matter regardless of political affiliation. If they had genuine concern over the hundreds of thousands of deaths being reported, they would hold elected officials accountable when they mishandle the situation.

But their willingness to sacrifice journalistic ideals for political expediency underscores the reality that they do not care about the families of those who have died from the illness. They have no concern over the millions of Americans who are out of work because of the pandemic. To put it simply, they view the victims of the coronavirus as nothing more than political pawns to be weaponized for political gain. It is yet another reason why they deserve to be called “media activists” instead of journalists.
