Proud Boys Leader Arrested For Defacing Black Church In DC

The leader of the Proud Boys was arrested in Washington D.C. only days before the protests and demonstrations that are scheduled for Jan. 6.

The Washington Post reported that “Enrique Tarrio, was arrested by D.C. police Monday afternoon on a warrant charging him with burning a Black Lives Matter banner taken from a historic Black church during a demonstration last month.”

According to a law enforcement spokesman, D.C. police stopped a car that Tarrio was riding in shortly after he entered the district. He is being charged with a misdemeanor count of destruction of property in connection with an incident in which he and members of the Proud Boys tore down a Black Lives Matter banner from a black church before torching it.

The Post also noted that Tarrio “also was charged with two felony counts of possession of high-capacity ammunition feeding devices, which is a legal term for a magazine that allows guns to hold additional bullets.”

The authorities have indicated that Tarrio’s actions could be classified as a hate crime, which would make for more severe punishment. In December, he told The Post that “he would plead guilty to destruction of property, pay the church the cost of the banner and surrender to authorities if a criminal charge were filed.” But he insisted that he would not “admit to committing a hate crime.”

The incident occurred amid clashes between Antifa operatives and Proud Boys, along with other Trump supporters during a protest against the result of the presidential election. The Post reported:

More than three dozen people were arrested during the day’s events. In one incident, four people were stabbed amid a crowd of Proud Boys and Trump supporters outside Harry’s Bar, which has become a Proud Boys gathering spot.

The article goes on to state that the “Proud Boys and Trump supporters roamed through the city looking to fight people.”

Tarrio insisted that he and his companions had reacted in self-defense and were not there to initiate violence. What The Post left out (deliberately) is the fact that Antifa has a history of showing up at conservative events with the intent to physically assault participants under the guise of fighting fascism. The author is simply bolstering the narrative being peddled by D.C.’s government, which has repeatedly tried to place blame for the violence entirely on the right while ignoring the actions of radical leftist extremists.

The Proud Boys leader previously claimed that he does not know who originally tore the banner down and that they did not know that it was a predominantly black church. “We didn’t Google the church and go, ‘Oh, it’s a Black church, let’s target it,’” he said. “The sign was taken down because of what it represents.”

As I argued previously, the actions of Tarrio and his friends was a horrible look for the right and the Proud Boys group. Defacing a black church for politics only gives more ammo to the activist media and the Democrats – but I repeat myself – who salivate at the opportunity to label the right as being full of racists like a rottweiler being offered a steak.

However, Tarrio’s claim that he did not know the church was predominantly black is believable, as he said, they don’t use Google before they engage in their activities. They were likely caught up in the heat of the moment and engaged in stupid and thuggish behavior. Moreover, the leader of the group is himself a Latino, so it is apparent that they were not motivated by racial animus.

But the fact that left-wing media activists are already trying to shape the narrative of the upcoming rally in D.C. further demonstrates their journalistic depravity. By focusing only on actions – actual or imagined – that were supposedly committed by right-leaning individuals, they are trying to obfuscate the far-left’s role in the mayhem that takes place during these events.

As stated previously, it is radical leftist extremists who initially introduce violence into these events. Without the presence of Antifa, there would be no physical aggression. Yet, alleged news outlets like The Washington Post refuse to acknowledge these facts even in the face of the wealth of footage showing black-clad Antifa operatives engaging in violence.

There can be no wonder that they deserve to be called the “activist media.”
