Leaked documents reveal disturbing information about the Chinese Communist Party’s (CCP) infiltration of the west under China’s President Xi Jinping. According to the material that was recently made public, members of the CCP have obtained high-profile positions in large businesses and western governments ostensibly to push Beijing’s agenda.

A leaked database was released showing that almost 2 million registered members of the CCP were placed in key positions in various western nations. The database was leaked to an international group of legislators called the Inter-Parliamentary Alliance on China, which includes Sens. Bob Menendez (D-NJ) and Marco Rubio (R-FL). The Telegraph reports that “hundreds of senior employees at British banks HSBC and Standard Chartered have been members of the Chinese Communist Party.”

The news outlet also notes that “at least 335 HSBC employees were CCP members,” and that “Standard Chartered has employed at least 290 CCP members. Among active members who have pledged an oath of loyalty to the country’s ruling party are the deputy president of the bank’s Chinese subsidiary, head of investment management and head of business banking.”

Secretary of State Mike Pompeo accused the Chinese government of bullying HSBC into blocking the accounts of pro-democracy advocates in August. The bank complied with Beijing’s demands. Both HSBC and Standard Chartered publicly declared their support for China’s implementation of Hong Kong’s National Security Law, which activists say will severely limit freedom of expression in the country, especially when it comes to criticizing the Chinese government.

But China’s infiltration isn’t just limited to banks. “Senior employees of a variety of UK and US companies appear on leaked membership lists seen by the Telegraph. Premier League football club Wolves are also revealed to be owned by party members, including one owner who holds a position of responsibility within the party,” according to The Telegraph

Two senior Deutsche Bank managers were also on the list of CPP members. JP Morgan Chase also employs party members in senior positions.

CCP members are also employed with prominent American firms as well. The New York Post reported that “Boeing, Qualcomm and Pfizer are just three US companies that have employed dozens of CCP members in their Chinese facilities, the database reveals.”

The information in the database does not refer to regular Chinese citizens gaining employment with various companies. It exposes the fact that people loyal to the country’s communist regime are being placed in these positions. All members of the Chinese Communist Party swear an oath to “fight for communism throughout my life, be ready at all times to sacrifice my all for the party and the people, and never betray the party [and] guard party secrets, be loyal to the party.”

Sen. Josh Hawley (R-MO), a member of the Homeland Security Committee, reacted to the release of the database, suggesting that the country should take heed. “CCP agents have no place in US government facilities, and this report should serve as a much-needed wake-up call to Washington, DC, and corporate executives, who continue to welcome the Chinese government with open arms,” he said.

The Post also notes:

“The database was verified by international cybersecurity firm Internet 2.0, which found it was originally leaked on encrypted messaging app Telegram in 2016. It was passed on to IPAC six weeks ago by a third party.

‘We have high confidence this list is authentic,’ Internet 2.0 co-founder David Robinson, a former Australian army intelligence officer, told me Sunday.”

Sky News Australia also reported on the leak, noting that the database includes a slew of details on the CCP members, “including their names, party position, birthday, national ID number and ethnicity.”

Sharri Markson, a host for the network, noted that the revelation “lifts the lid on how the party operates under President and Chairman Xi Jinping.” She pointed out that the leak shows that members of the CCP are embedded in some of the largest companies in the world and in various government agencies.

“Communist party branches have been set up inside western companies, allowing the infiltration of those companies by CCP members – who, if called on, are answerable directly to the communist party, to the Chairman, the president himself,” she explained.

Markson continued: “Along with the personal identifying details of 1.95 million communist party members, mostly from Shanghai, there are also the details of 79,000 communist party branches, many of them inside companies.”

The reporter noted that the leak will embarrass Xi Jinping as well as the companies who employ members of the communist party. “It is also going to embarrass some global companies who appear to have no plan in place to protect their intellectual property from theft. From economic espionage,” she said.

Markson explained that Chinese dissidents took the database from a Shanghai server in April 2016 and used it for counterintelligence. “It was then leaked in mid-September to the newly-formed international bi-partisan group, the Inter-Parliamentary Alliance on China – and that group is made up of 150 legislators around the world,” she said.

While the nation is currently focused on the ongoing battle over the presidential election and Georgia’s Senate runoff race, we must remember that America’s enemies are not so distracted. The leaked documents should concern all of us, especially since it appears we will have a president who has questionable ties to the Chinese government. Can we really count on former Vice President Joe Biden to curtail the CCP’s infiltration into prominent American business and governmental entities?
