Former FBI Director James Comey is now back in the spotlight after it was revealed that he ordered agents to trap former Trump advisor General Mike Flynn. On Thursday, Jeff Sessions, who previously served as Attorney General, stated that he encouraged the President to fire Comey soon after he took office.

A release of documents detailing the FBI’s conduct during the investigation into Gen. Flynn has ignited yet another firestorm of criticism directed at Comey, who allegedly ordered agents to frame the former Trump advisor. In fact, these documents showed that the Bureau was mulling the prospect of prosecuting Flynn before interviewing him.

In an appearance on Fox News’ “Tucker Carlson Tonight,” Sessions revealed that he was telling Trump to dismiss Comey from day one. “I don’t talk about what I tell the President, but I think people knew that I felt he should not continue from virtually day one of the administration,” he said. “When I was asked by the President about it, it didn’t take me 30 seconds to say, ‘my recommendation is that he be removed.'”

The former Attorney General told Carlson that he never trusted Comey to head the FBI. He explained that “Jim Comey did not believe he was bound by the rules. He thought he was above the rules. I did not feel good about his leadership at the FBI.”

Sessions noted that Comey had a particular interest in damaging President Trump. He asserted that Comey would not have taken the same type of action against previous presidents:

“When they talked about conducting this interview, and, as he said, he sent them in, and he wouldn’t have done it against Obama. He wouldn’t have done it against Bush. It was in the first days of this administration, and that’s why he did it.”

After the release of the Bureau’s documents, it became clear that the agency was attempting to gain a scalp. It seems that Special Counsel Robert Mueller’s team knew that they would not be able to prove that Trump’s 2016 campaign colluded with the Russian government to win the election, so they decided to set a trap for one of Trump’s advisors.

RedState’s Nick Arama reported on the FBI’s attempt to frame Gen. Flynn:

“The documents are shocking as they actually set out in writing whether their ‘goal’ should be to set him up to arrest him or get him fired, ‘Truth/Admission or to get him to lie, so we can prosecute him or get him fired?’”

In the recording, Comey is heard admitting that he sent the agents to get Flynn. He stated that this operation was “something I probably wouldn’t have done or gotten away with in a more organized administration.”

Sessions obviously saw what others already knew about the former FBI director. Comey was never an honest player; his objective was to preserve his position and push an anti-Trump agenda. The former Attorney General was right: Trump should have fired Comey when he first took office instead of waiting. Without Comey’s influence, it seems unlikely that the nation would have had to endure the Russia collusion hoax.

But, as they say, hindsight is 20/20. Mueller’s report showed that Trump did not collaborate with the Kremlin to win the 2016 election. He might as well have reported that SJW’s love soy.

Unfortunately, it is unlikely that Comey will ever be held accountable for his wrongdoing. We’ve already seen that the Department of Justice (DOJ) rarely prosecutes its own. But there is a silver lining: the former FBI director, as well as other bad actors in the government, continue to be exposed.

These individuals might not ever see real justice. But stories like this will remind the American public that the progressive left and their allies in the corporate press are deceptive. If anything, this will further decrease people’s trust in the Democratic establishment and the legacy media.
