As the US prepares to leave, many Afghans face the prospect of being left behind.  Their desperation is electric. During the time I was in Taliban-controlled Mazar-e-Sharif and now from the safety of Uzbekistan, I have interviewed many Afghans. One can hear the dream of freedom dimming in their voices.
