Crazed Lunatic Threatens to Murder CNN's "Fake News" Reporters and Staff

A disturbed and extremely angry fan of President Trump, apparently triggered (in the genuine sense of the word) by the constant barrage of what the President and his spox call “fake news”, has been arrested after threatening to murder CNN employees recently.

WGCL in Atlanta reported the story on Monday.

A Michigan man was arrested after an FBI investigation, accused of threatening to travel to Atlanta to commit mass murder at CNN headquarters.

According to federal court documents, 19 year-old Brandon Griesemer made 22 calls to CNN about a week ago.

It began with claims of “fake news” and ended with threats of violence.

Griesemer apparently called CNN over 20 times making a variety of threats, including:

  • “Fake news. I’m coming to gun you all down.”
  • “I’m smarter than you. More powerful than you. I have more guns than you. More manpower. Your cast is about to get gunned down in a matter of hours.”
  • “I am coming to Georgia right now to go to the CNN headquarters to f—ing gun every single last one of you.”

WGCL adds:

Griesemer is also accused of making derogatory comments regarding the Islamic Center in Ann Arbor in September of 2017.

There is no doubt about this guy’s motivation. It’s easy to say he’s crazy, but crazy looks for a home, and he certainly found one.

When a so-called “lone gunman’ Islamic terrorist strikes, conservatives and in particular Trump’s supporters are openly hostile to liberal attempts to paint the terrorist as mentally unstable or deranged rather than state that he is motivated by his religion or beliefs.

So it would pretty silly to just ignore the endless loud drumbeat of “Fake News” complaints from the President and his entire MAGA apparatus. From the early Republican primary and on through just the last few days, the President has relentlessly harped on the notion of “Fake News” and the idea the media is out to get him and, by extension, everyone who supports him. He would point to the press at every rally and insult them, call them liars, and his fan base would yell at them and boo them.

It would be absurd not to note this. It would be just as asinine to ignore this man yelling “fake news” as it would be to ignore a radical Islamist saying “Allahu Akbar” before making a threat.

But we also have to realize that this was just a threat. Or threats.. So far, from what we know, it doesn’t even rise the level of “plot.” It’s just angry phone messages. Scary, yes. But just words.

So yes, it must be acknowledged that the man is citing the President’s crusade against the press. But it must also be pointed out that nothing actually happened beyond the threatening calls. It’s too soon to draw a conclusion about the volatility of fighting the press, and too early to absolve as well.

We’re only at the point where we acknowledge things. And now they are.
