There’s simply no other conclusion to reach. The Democrats would rather see the strong Trump economy burned beyond all recognition, even if that means Americans, including Democratic voters, will suffer, than see President Trump win reelection.

Early this morning, The Wall Street Journal’s Kimberley Strassel reacted to the Senate Democrats’ vote against the bipartisan relief bill on Sunday night, a bill that they’d helped create.

In a tweet, she wrote:

Futures down, on Democratic gamesmanship with Senate bill. To play politics now is height of irresponsibility. Pelosi owns this. Again, Ds were part of the Senate crafting—were on board. Now caving to progressive wing—again. At peril of economy.

I hope Republicans put out names of those Democratic senators who provided advice and proposals (and SUPPORT) for this bill, only to duck and run when Warren and progressive crew complained. The country deserves better leadership than that. Let’s separate wheat from chaff.

Strassel’s idea of revealing the names of the Democrats who helped forge the bill is a good one. Let their constituents see that Democrats are no longer the party of the working man, especially when doing the right thing interferes with their larger goals.

When the world first heard about the coronavirus, the House had just voted to impeach President Trump for purely political reasons. In January, as we began to hear more and more about it, the Democrats were busy condemning the President for ordering the airstrike which killed terrorist Qassem Soleimani and marveling how a nation had come out to mourn their beloved leader.

As news of the virus increased, House Speaker Nancy Pelosi was deliberating over sending the Articles of Impeachment to the Senate or not. Finally, she realized Sen. Majority Leader Mitch McConnell was not going to cave in to her unreasonable demands.

After dragging the country through her ‘will she or won’t she’ game for four weeks, she sent the Articles over to the Senate. Democrats were highly focused on building and presenting their case against our lawless President. They were especially fixated on arranging for former National Security Advisor John Bolton to testify before the Senate after excerpts from his upcoming book that might be damaging to Trump, were leaked from the National Security Council on the eve of the Senate trial. They lost that particular battle and on February 5, the President was acquitted.

Meanwhile, the coronavirus had made its way to America. A 35-year-old man who had returned to Washington State on January 15 after visiting family in Wuhan, China, became the first person in the U.S. to test positive for the coronavirus. The date was January 20.

As Americans witnessed the farce that was going on in the Senate, the coronavirus threat continued to build. Democrats were oblivious. President Trump was on it. Throughout the month, he and his staff worked with the CDC and the NIH to prepare a national response. They set up the White House coronavirus task force. In mid-January, the CDC “implemented public health entry screening at the three U.S. airports that received the most travelers from Wuhan.” Dr. Anthony Fauci, director of the National Institutes of Allergy and Infectious Diseases (an agency of the NIH), “announced efforts to develop a vaccine.” By the end of January, Trump had “declared a public health emergency, announced Chinese travel restrictions, and suspended entry into the U.S. for foreign nationals at risk of transmitting the virus.”

Following the President’s acquittal, Democrats made noise about bringing Bolton in to testify before the House. The New York Times reported that “Bolton had voiced concerns about Trump’s contacts with China and Turkey, alleging that his former boss has granted personal favors to the leaders of the two countries.” This led to talk about investigating President Trump’s contacts with the leaders of China and Turkey. Rep. Eric Swalwell (D-CA) told reporters, “If you believe the Bolton leaks that this was not the only country that he was acting shady with, then I do think we should learn more about what’s going on with Russia. What’s going on with Turkey? What’s going on with Saudi, North Korea?”

None of this appeared to go anywhere. After a court ruled they could not force former White House Counsel Don McGahn to testify, Democrats pivoted to the primaries. They were too busy working on a plan to resurrect Joe Biden’s failing candidacy to pay any real attention to the coronavirus.

Aside from criticizing President Trump’s response to the crisis, they didn’t appear to give it much thought at all.

Their lack of participation in the U.S. coronavirus response has not gone unnoticed. A writer for the Huffington Post questioned how Biden, Pelosi and Schumer could have screwed up the coronavirus response so badly. What did he really expect from them?

Joe Biden attacked President Trump’s efforts and said he would create a plan of his own. Then he posted…President Trump’s plan. Long before his mental decline, Joe Biden was useless. Now, he’s simply more useless.

Democrats are generally not known for their problem solving abilities. They are a one trick pony. They know how to attack and tear down and they do it very well. Democrats have become the party of destruction.

They would rather see the U.S. economy become a smoldering wreck strewn with body parts, even Democratic body parts, if it might give them power.

Because, for the Democrats, it’s always about power.
