Chairman of the House Intelligence Committee Adam Schiff (D-CA) has emerged as the face of the Democrats’ persecution of President Trump. Since the summer of 2016, he has been the media’s “go-to” lawmaker in all things related to Trump. He has vowed to continue his crusade against the President even though he has been vindicated by the Mueller Report. Only days before the report was submitted to Attorney General William Barr, Adam Schiff claimed that evidence of Trump’s collusion with Russia existed in plain sight. Show us the evidence, Mr. Schiff.

Calls for Schiff to step down as Chairman of the Intelligence Committee and even for his resignation from Congress have grown louder since Barr released his summary of the Mueller team’s conclusions on Sunday.

On Monday, House Minority Leader Kevin McCarthy (R-CA) called for Schiff to step down as Chairman of the Intelligence Committee. He told reporters that “Schiff owes the American public an apology. Schiff has met the standard that he has imposed on other members of Congress of when they should step back from their positions. He has exceeded that standard, and there is no question he should step down from the Intel chairmanship.”

His call has been echoed by many other key House Republicans including Reps. Mark Meadows (R-SC), Jim Jordan (R-OH) and Doug Campbell (R-GA).

Rep. Dan Crenshaw (R-TX) also slammed Schiff. He tweeted: “You. Have. Been. Exposed.”

You. Have. Been. Exposed.

Stop the charade. There was no collusion.

You used your unique position on the Intel Cmte to convince the American people that you had access to evidence of collusion.

Kellyanne Conway called for Schiff to resign from Congress altogether and to do so immediately. In the CSPAN video below, she speaks to reporters:

It’s my personal opinion and let me express it again in case it wasn’t clear. Many of you, and certainly many others who aren’t represented here, have allowed this person, as ranking member and now Chairman of the House Intelligence Committee, to just let a lie fly for two years. Literally going out, not under oath, and saying day after day, month after month, full of vim and vigor, snark and bark, that there’s a mountain of evidence of collusion against the President and that it may actually be bigger than Watergate. He has been able to have unfettered access to all of you, some of you let the lie fly for several years.

Donald Trump, Jr. also demanded that Schiff resign. Schiff has been especially harsh on Trump, Jr. over the infamous June 2016 Trump Tower meeting. Schiff has repeatedly accused of him of calling his father immediately after the meeting. When phone records proved he had instead made calls to two family friends (nonpolitical), Schiff was silent.

Well, he can always show the American public all the evidence he says he’s seen. That would clear thing up. Otherwise he’s just a disgrace to the position.

Sean Hannity, who was on fire Monday night said the following of Schiff:

And House Intelligence Committee Chairman Adam Schiff, I call him the cowardly Schiff, lied repeatedly when he said there’s significant evidence of collusion. He is not to be trusted. Should be taken off as the Chairman of the House Intel Committee. He is a national disgrace. (24:25 in the video below)

Schiff’s pursuit of the President has become obsessive. And he should resign from office, although he won’t.

Several weeks ago, I wrote a post (here)  entitled, “Mr. Schiff, ‘Have You No Sense Of Decency, Sir, At Long Last?,” in which I compared Schiff to the late Sen. Joe McCarthy (R-WI).

McCarthy’s severe obsession with ridding the government of communists in the late 1940s and early 1950s made him the symbol of the “Red Scare.”  “His accusations were so intimidating that few people dared to speak out against him.” McCarthy became consumed by his need to route out communism. His actions became more and more ruthless and unhinged over the years.

Just as McCarthy is known as the symbol of the Red Scare,” Schiff will be remembered by history as the symbol of the “Trump/Russian collusion” scandal. The only difference between the two men is that there was some basis of truth to McCarthy’s allegations during the early days of the Cold War.
