Bill and Hillary's Speaking Tour Opened To A Sold Out Arena! No, Not Really!

The opening night of Bill and Hillary Clinton’s Trump-bashing tour can only be described as a bust. They managed to sell only 3,300 tickets for the event which was held in Toronto’s Scotiabank Arena, a venue that can accommodate up to 19,800. Bill and Hill managed to fill only 17% of the seats. And, in the middle of it, Hillary had a coughing attack.

Ticket prices for “An Evening with the Clintons” were initially priced from $200 to $53 (Canadian). Shortly before the event began, tickets were priced as low as $6.55. Contrast this with the overflow crowds Donald Trump attracted at each of his pre-midterm rallies.

A CNN anchor speaking outside of the arena said,  “We did see, in this crowd, a very enthusiastic crowd, that there is still very much an appetite for the Clinton’s.” Her remarks could not have been farther from the truth which is the reason why the CNN video above only shows footage of Bill and Hill on stage and deliberately avoids shots of the audience.

The Clinton’s were interviewed by Canadian politician and diplomat Frank McKenna. And their responses were exactly what you would expect them to be.

Hillary was asked if she was perhaps testing the waters for a 2020 presidential run. She replied,  “Actually, Frank, I’m considering standing for Parliament here in Canada.”

Hillary was asked about Trump’s decision to maintain the US alliance with Saudi Arabia in the wake of the Khashoggi murder. She responded, “We have a president who is part of the cover up as to what happened in that consulate or embassy when Mr. Khashoggi was murdered…What makes this so troubling is how much commercial interest both the president’s family and business and his son in law’s family and business have with the kingdom.”

I guess she forgot about the $10 million plus in donations the country made to the Clinton Foundation.

McKenna asked, “Why does Putin hate you so much? You seem like a very nice person.” Hillary said “I think he saw me as someone who had stood up to him and would stand up to him.” She is completely out of touch.

All in all, this speaking tour was not one of the Clintons’ better ideas. Perhaps they felt that, because donations to the Clinton Foundation have dried up since her 2016 loss, this was a way to drum up a little extra cash.

However, even some who support the Clintons thought this tour was a bad idea. A former Clinton aide told CNN:  “I just think the optics of going to an event where people are paying to see them, and they are financially gaining from this, I am not sure that is the right way to reingratiate them back into the public sphere. They haven’t gone away, and I don’t want them to go away, but I am not sure this is the right venue from an optics standpoint.”

The Toronto Star’s headline read:  “Hillary and Bill Just Won’t Go Away.”
