Former CIA Director John Brennan hasn’t been this upset since … President Trump pulled his security clearance.
Brennan, who played no small part in instigating the FBI’s counterintelligence investigation into Trump’s alleged collusion with the Russian government, appears to be in panic mode over the President’s recent order to declassify a number of potentially incriminating documents. In an interview with MSNBC on Tuesday, he said:
A number of individuals are trying to protect Mr. Trump and are abusing their authorities and their powers, whether it be in Congress or within the executive branch.
And this is something that I am hoping that individuals of conscience are going to stop and prevent because I am concerned that this is just one indication that Mr. Trump is going to increasingly look for steps to take in order to further try to subvert the Mueller investigation.
Brennan has a lot to lose if all of the requested documents are completely declassified.
He’s hardly alone. Many participants in the conspiracy to destroy Donald Trump’s candidacy and then his presidency will face not only embarrassment, but also legal jeopardy, when these documents are exposed.
Rep. Adam Schiff (D-CA) will be proven to be the biggest liar since Hillary Clinton. (One of my first posts ever was a hit piece on this repellent man.) He has strongly condemned Trump’s declassification order referring to it as an abuse of power. He said:
President Trump, in a clear abuse of power, has decided to intervene in a pending law enforcement investigation by ordering the selective release of materials he believes are helpful to his defense team and thinks will advance a false narrative.
Other critics have said that Trump has “crossed a line” and that he has done so “in order to interfere with and undermine the Russia investigation in which he’s a key figure.”
On Tuesday, Schiff, Rep. Nancy Pelosi (D-CA) and Sens. Chuck Schumer and Mark Warner wrote a letter to Director of National Intelligence Daniel Coats, Deputy Attorney General Rod Rosenstein and FBI Director Christopher Wray expressing their “profound alarm” over Trump’s order. They believe this will undermine the legitimacy and credibility of the Special Counsel investigation. And they want to be notified before any documents are declassified. I’m glad they are profoundly alarmed.
Three sources who were not authorized to speak to the press have told Bloomberg News that officials from the office of the Director of National Intelligence (DNI), the DOJ and the FBI will propose redactions to the documents that President Trump has ordered to be released in unredacted form.
One source said that officials were trying to determine “whether and how to release reports of interviews with Ohr on his role in the Russia inquiry.” The President has ordered unredacted copies of specific documents, yet subordinates are worrying about “whether and how” to do that? He is the President and has every right to request these documents.
The agencies are likely to cite national security concerns over revealing classified “sources and methods” pertaining to the Russia investigation – which will put them in direct conflict with Trump’s order. Trump, as president, has the power to override the agencies and declassify material on his own.
While the agencies want to guard against revealing classified sources and methods about the ongoing Russia investigation, doing so could put them in direct conflict with Trump, who as president, has the power to override the agencies and declassify material on his own.
It’s too early to say if any officials would resign in protest should Trump do that, one person said. Trump could ask the agencies to go back and scrub the redacted material further.
Go ahead and let them resign in protest. Trump won the election and elections matter. Obviously, members of the deep state aren’t concerned about divulging sources and methods to our enemies. It’s a bit more personal than that. They are painfully aware that, once the conspiracy is fully exposed, there will be consequences in their own lives. Specifically, some may lose their jobs and others may face legal problems. No matter how long it takes for the entire truth to unfold, it will unfold. And that’s what they’re so afraid of.
*** It’s worth noting that in the middle of the Bloomberg story, they provided a link to another article entitled “Quick Take – All You (and Trump) Should Know About Impeachment.” Thanks Bloomberg.
