President Trump Puts Americans First on Immigration

I am not a fan of Vladimir Putin. The former KGB Lieutenant Colonel is not a nice man. He spent a very long career in a Soviet agency known for torturing & killing people…all to keep one of the World’s most repressive regimes in power. The demise of the USSR did little to temper his personality. To be very clear, Putin is an evil man.

Having said that, I have noticed throughout the years 2008 through 2016, that there was one positive attribute in which he far surpassed President Barack Obama. President Putin seems to know at all times, whose country’s interests he’s supposed to be promoting. During the Obama Administration, most days I truly believed our President was more concerned with the interests of other nations and their people, than these United States and our people.

Then comes President Donald J. Trump, who each and every day, seems able to demonstrate that he gets it. Along with the Support and Defend thing, he really does understand that his primary purpose in life is to look out for the interests of these United States of America and the Americans who live here. The latest evidence for this, comes as President Trump announces his immigration initiative.

From a Fox News Article,

President Trump On Thursday unveiled a long-awaited immigration overhaul that would dramatically alter how the U.S. accepts people into the country, upending the system in order to favor admissions based on merit rather than family ties.

“If adopted, our plan will transform America’s immigration system into the pride of our nation and the envy of the modern world,” Trump said from the Rose Garden.

The proposal would judge immigrants with a points-based system that would favor high-skilled workers — accounting for age, English proficiency, education and whether the applicant has a well-paying job offer.

Here’s the important part

Currently, only about 12 percent of immigrants are admitted based on employment and skills, while 66 percent are admitted based on family connections inside the U.S. Administration officials estimate that those numbers would flip to 57 and 33 percent, respectively, under the Trump plan.

“Currently 66 percent of legal immigrants come here based on random chance, they’re admitted solely because they have a relative in the United States, and it doesn’t really matter who that relative is,” Trump said.

Here are some other aspects of President Trump’s proposal

—Aims to end chain-migration.

—Makes gang members and criminals, inadmissible, and

—Stops frivolous asylum claims.

—Requires immigrants to be financially self-sufficient, learn English and pass a civics exam before admission.

The most important thing to note, is that President Trump has redefined the purpose of the U. S. Immigration and Naturalization System. Instead of the applicants and their desires having primacy of consideration, he has shifted focus to the polar opposite, the interests and desires of these United States. It’s about time.
