My fellow RedStater, Alex Parker penned great piece about actual border wall construction. That’s correct, the border wall is already being built. From the article, bolded emphasis, mine,
Well, it’s begun. It may not be the way you wanted it, but here it is.
Here we are, on the other side of President Trump’s declared national emergency. And construction has commenced on — as noted by The Daily Caller — “the fifth border wall project of his administration.”
On Tuesday, the U.S. Customs and Border Protection announced the start of a 14-mile-long, 30-foot-high steel post fence near San Diego as a replacement for the steel-mesh barrier there.
The fence is the second layer of a two-layer system, the first of which is almost done.
What I find fascinating, is that for the last few months, the entire conversation has been about whether President Trump will be permitted to build a wall; Whether or not he’ll be able to secure funding for it; Whether or not he will clear legal hurdles placed in his path by the leftist jurists in the 9th Circuit.
As my associate Alex, points out that very little attention has been paid to the fact, that the wall is actually being built. Admittedly, it’s not the “great big beautiful (concrete) wall,” Trump touted during his Presidential campaign, but it is a serious system of barriers, barriers built based on the recommendations of the Border Patrol troops on the ground.
Again; The wall is already being built—and will continue to be, all the way up to and through the 2020 election despite leftist obstruction via legislation, litigation and likely violent protests on job sites (with their concomitant detritus). What does this mean? It means that President Trump will be able to produce a plethora of visuals that will demonstrate accomplishment of his signature campaign promise.
The leftists understand this. They know that President Trump has a long list of accomplishments in his just-over two years in office. Many of these accomplishments, such as low unemployment, are making inroads among core leftist constituencies like Black and Latino populations, whose employment numbers are the best since we started tracking them.
The only thing that can prevent the re-election of Donald Trump, is if somehow the leftists can separate him from his base and by doing so, depress turnout. That’s why their opposition to the border wall construction has displayed the foaming-at-the-mouth of a rabid dog—and it ain’t gonna work. Every foot of wall/barrier that goes up, is another Trump supporter who will make sure that he votes, even if he has to low crawl over broken glass to get to the polls.
