February is upon us, and that means some Americans are actually getting ready to cast votes.  All of the talk and speculation will continue but maybe by this time tomorrow we may actually have a clear picture of who middle America is actually behind on both sides of the aisle.

Trump v. Trump The fight of century.  My disdain for Donald Trump representing our political party as a candidate has been noted.  But I love it when talented people whose gifts far exceed mine are able to showcase the ridiculousness of Trump’s candidacy in convincing ways.  As an example former Red State leader Erick Erickson put together a beautiful collection of Trumpisms on Townhall.com.  Here are some highlights all quotes from Donald Trump mind you.

“As far as single payer, it works in Canada, it works incredibly well in Scotland.” “I would press for universal healthcare. … I would put forward a comprehensive health care program and fund it with an increase in corporate taxes.” “We must have universal healthcare.”

“I hate the concept of it, but on a humanitarian basis, you have to [take in Syrian refugees]”

“I support the ban on assault weapons and I also support a slightly longer waiting period to purchase a gun.” “I hate the concept of guns.” “The Republicans walk the NRA line and refuse even limited restrictions.” “I probably identify more as a Democrat.”

“Everybody’s got to be covered. This is an un-Republican thing to say. I’m going to take care of everybody…. The government is going to pay for it.” “I believe the Republicans are just too crazy right.”

“I’ve very impressed by [Nancy Pelosi]. I like her a lot.” “Hillary is a great friend of mine. Her husband is a great friend of mine.”

Late night talk show host Stephen Colbert got in on the fun.  Hosting a Trump on Trump debate.  I know Colbert is biased here but the point his bit makes is consistent with the very serious point Erick makes in his article.  If you have eight minutes to kill today spend it watching how easy it will be for any democrat to blow holes in a Trump nomination.

Islamic Terrorist group Boko Haram slaughtered a village full of defenseless women and children this weekend.  Many victims were burnt alive, and 86 total lost their lives.  I know it is popular right now in conservative culture to speak of isolationism.  That what happens out there in the world is the world’s problem and we just need to worry about us.  How can a nation who is supposed to be “the light on the hill” ignore this kind of evil? if we do ignore it how long will we be that light? if we are not the light who will be? Scary.

I could not make this up if I tried.  NAACP leader uses F-word to apologize for using T-word after N-word meeting.  Did your mind just explode reading that headline?  Mine almost did.  Here is the long and short of it… A regional NAACP leader was picked up on camera using a slang (T-word) to describe how nice a reporters breasts looked during an interview she was doing with him to discuss high school girls using the N-word as a joke.  When confronted he apologized by saying “I am really F#$%ing sorry”.  Wow, I sure am glad the NAACP is out there protecting people from hurtful speech.

#Murica When I first heard about police training eagles to take out drones I was filled with a sense of patriotism and pride.  I envisioned a glorious Bald Eagle swooping out of the sky and grabbing a terrorists bomb carrying drone moments before it reached a middle America 4th of July celebration.  As the eagle flew away the crowd spontaneously begins to chant in unison “USA USA USA USA”… you get the point.  But pump the brakes this incredible eagle technology is not for us, it is the Dutch who are perfecting this awesomeness.

Did we learn nothing from Jurassic Park?  We play God… we get eaten (As Newman from Seinfeld found out)  Makes sense right?  Well questions are now arising about the Zika virus and whether human tampering with genetically altered mosquitoes is to blame for the potential epidemic that may be coming.
