Rock Singer Shames Christians, Says Trump Voters Are 'Not Allowed' at His Band's Shows

I used to really like The Red Jumpsuit Apparatus. I mean, I still do — just not as much now that I know what the band's politics are.

To be fair, I don't actually know what the band's overall politics are; I only know what frontman Ronnie Winter's politics are because he's the most vocal about it. I have to assume the rest of the band feels the same way.

Over the weekend, Winter posted a video to his Instagram where he crashed out pretty hard over President Donald Trump's supporters.

"I thought I was pretty clear about all this stuff in 2020, and as notice on my Instagram wall, I did not remove any of that stuff," Winter began, referencing his support for 2020's Stay Woke campaign.

"The thing about being woke is you're awake. And once you're awake, you can never go to sleep. And not only has nothing changed, but everything they said was going to happen, the woke people has happened. You have done nothing but prove them right."

Winter, who identifies himself as a Christian, then took aim at fellow Christians for their support of Trump.

"So here it is again, in case somehow you missed it. Hi, I'm Ronnie Winter. I sing for the Red Jumpsuit Apparatus, and I actually follow what Jesus says. If you're a Christian and you're watching this and you voted for Donald Trump, shame on you."

The lead singer continued his tirade against Trump supporters, saying they were effectively banned from seeing The Red Jumpsuit Apparatus in concert.

You are not allowed to come to my shows. I don't want you there. Don't come to my shows. It's awesome that you love 'Face Down.' It's not for you. It's not your song. It is not your song.

Winter concluded his video by claiming that his view of Christianity was the correct one, and those who disagreed went against Jesus Christ

"If you voted for Donald Trump, do not come to my shows or ever, not just these four years. Don't come to my shows because you're going to hear a lot of woke propaganda, and you're going to hear the actual words of Jesus. You're going to see a lot of acceptance from all areas of life and races, and you're just going to see a lot of harmony. That's not what you're about. Don't come. Refunds are available. Forever, don't come. Goodbye."

The band, specifically their 2006 debut album Don't You Fake It, was the soundtrack to my life in high school during the mid-2000s.

Prior to 2020, the band — Winter specifically — was very single-issue when it came to being political in their songs. "Face Down" was an anti-domestic violence song, and "Remember Me" is an emotional anti-suicide awareness PSA.

I've seen The Red Jumpsuit Apparatus in concert twice during the mid-2010s. They were fantastic both times. No politics were present throughout either show.

The most controversial thing Winter did was profess his love for Jesus to the crowd at the Whiskey a Go Go in Hollywood. At the time, I didn't know he was a Christian and thought it was actually kind of a punk thing for him to do.

Something seemed to have snapped for Winter during the COVID-19 pandemic. Their 2020 album The Emergency EP became chock-full of liberal themes, with one track, "Don't Buy Into It," appearing to praise transgender ideology.

I've been on my own journey with God since 2020, and I respect sincere faith in Jesus. But seriously — why is it that liberals always twist Jesus into being some open-borders, love-is-love communist hippie?

I'm pretty sure all of that goes completely against Jesus and the natural order itself.

You're a talented guy, Ronnie. Please stick to making good music instead of preaching your politics.
