The White House has announced that President Joe Biden tested positive for COVID-19 once again on Saturday, after testing negative several times this week.
Dr. Kevin O’Connor, the physician to the president, said in a statement that this “rebound” occurs in a “small percentage of patients treated with PAXLOVID.” According to CNBC, that is the case; a small percentage of people do see COVID-19 resurface after taking the treatment.
Biden originally tested positive on July 21 and went into isolation until Wednesday, which he will now return to, he wrote in a tweet.
“Folks, today I tested positive for COVID again. This happens with a small minority of folks. I’ve got no symptoms but I am going to isolate for the safety of everyone around me. I’m still at work, and will be back on the road soon.”
