Massive Protests Planned for Trump Inauguration

Fox News reports that large-scale demonstrations are planned in the nation’s capital for President-elect Donald Trump’s Inauguration. Police are expecting tens-of-thousands of protesters.

One protest is being organized by the group ANSWER, for Act Now to Stop War & End Racism. The group’s Facebook page announces its “Protest at the Inauguration: Stand Against Trump, War, Racism and Inequality.” Nearly 7,000 people have already committed to attending and 24,000 more have expressing interest in the event.

According to Fox News, Metropolitan Police Department officers have been briefed about the proposed demonstration and told to expect at least 30,000 protesters.

A pro-Clinton group named “RoaRR 4 Hillary” is planning a “Million Women March” on Jan. 21.

Trump’s Defeat of Hillary Clinton has already sparked smaller protests across the country.

The Washington Post reports that hundreds of protestors took to the streets in cities across the country for a third straight night on Friday and police bolstered their forces in the wake of rioting in Portland, Ore., and Los Angeles.

More than 225 people have been arrested across various cities — at least 185 in Los Angeles alone — amid demonstrations that have included highway blockades, angry chants of “not my president” and a rampage through Portland.

Police in New York have erected barricades and placed sand-filled trucks in front of Trump Tower.
