Update 2: Fox News projects Hillary will win the Nevada Democrat caucuses. With about two thirds of the results in Hillary leads 52.2% to 47.8%.
Update: With about half the results in Hillary Clinton still leads Bernie Sanders:
- Hillary Clinton – 51.8%
- Bernie Sanders – 48.2%
With about 30 percent of the result in from the Nevada Democrat Caucus in Hillary Clinton is leading Bernie Sanders 51.8% to 48.1%. Hillary sure knows how to lose an overwhelming lead.
The most striking news from the Exit Polls is that Sanders is winning 70 percent of the Independents. Other findings include:
- Two-thirds say it’s their first time attending a Nevada Democratic presidential caucus. Sanders does better in this group, while Clinton did well among repeat caucus goers.
- A remarkable seven in 10 caucus goers describe themselves as liberals, including a third “very” liberal – far higher than their share in the 2008 Nevada caucuses, 45 and 18 percent, respectively.
- Hispanics – nearly two in 10 caucus participants – are tilting to Sanders, with 54 percent support – a serious challenge to Clinton among nonwhites. Clinton won 64 percent of Hispanics in Nevada in 2008, when she beat Barack Obama in the state’s caucuses by 7 percentage points.
