Let's Go, Admin! 'Dark Brandon' Meme Posted by WH Officials as Twitter Censors 'SuperTrump'

The Breitbart Doctrine says that politics is downstream from culture. This, if true, poses a scary thought based on the internet culture being shared by members of the Biden Administration and Congress.

The “Dark Brandon” memes, as the allusion suggests, were started by right-wing meme creators by combining “Let’s Go Brandon” and “DarkMAGA” trends into one meme. The “Dark” meme subculture originally depicted Former President Donald Trump as a Gotham-styled comic book hero who was unhinged and edgy. The meme was then used by the right as irony, with depictions of President Joe Biden, who the public largely sees as too old for office. Twitter has now obliterated the #DarkMAGA hashtag, and not a single DarkMAGA meme can be found in search results. Twitter thinks SuperTrump is not fit for public consumption, especially since Biden’s government officials are out in force promoting their cartoon of a President.

Sound the alarms! Dark Brandon has now faced cultural appropriation and exploitation by the ruling class… or something. The meme has been adopted by the left and not just run-of-the-mill internet trolls, but the people who have their salaries paid for by the American taxpayers. Dark Brandon was tweeted by Rob Flaherty, the White House Director of Digital Strategy, Andrew Bates, the Deputy Press Secretary, and the US Senator from CT, Chris Murphy.

The Dem officials’ timing of the Dark Brandon tweets implies a celebration of the Inflation Reduction Act being passed in the Senate, which was already over-celebrated with cheers and applause as Vice President Kamala Harris cast the tie-breaking vote. While the federal government takes their victory lap for permitting themselves to wildly spend more taxpayer money, they are also looking for ways to pull off some kind of Weekend at Bernie’s resurrection of Biden’s dwindling popularity.

With growing concerns about midterms and their future ability to shove budget reconciliation bills down Americans’ throats, the Dems need to market this administration as viable instead of feeble, spendy, and awkward.

What they ended up with is a meme meant to poke fun at Joe Biden for being incompetent, using it to celebrate congressional spending, and having federal officials attempt to troll Twitter users, all while the right’s original versions of the meme get censored. Yep. Feeble, spendy, and awkward.
