Texas Democrat Senate nominee James Talarico has to be one of the worst politicians on the planet, and not just because he's obviously a fake Christian selling himself as a good one, but because the lies he tells aren't even good either. In a world of Democrats, you can either be a good Christian and a bad liar, or a bad Christian and a good liar, but you cannot be both. Talarico manages to do the impossible here.
As my RedState colleague Nick Arama reported on Monday, Talarico recently said he's basing his ideas about healthcare on the Bible, specifically the kind of healthcare Jesus got up to:
When Jesus healed the sick, he didn’t ask for a deductible. So when I fight for universal healthcare, I'm doing it on biblical grounds.
When Jesus fed the hungry, he didn’t price gouge to turn a profit. So when I say that no child in the state of Texas should go to bed hungry, I'm doing it on biblical grounds.
And when the Hebrew prophets saw corruption in high places, they spoke truth to power. So when I take on the politicians who are serving themselves and not the people, I’m doing it on biblical grounds.
Right, so if Talarico is fighting for "universal healthcare" on "biblical grounds," that's like him telling you he's fighting for rape in the name of virginity. Universal healthcare is so opposite of biblical healthcare that you need only read a few stories about Jesus healing people and the darker side of socialized healthcare to show you how ridiculous Talarico's words are.
Arama brought up one front of this argument quite well:
When Jesus performed his miracles, he was not running for office or approving a political platform; he was working to bring us all closer to God.
So attempting to use Christ's miracles for a political justification while running for election is particularly gross. I don't see anything about government-controlled healthcare in the Bible. Plus, Jesus is not the government, and the government is not God. I realize Talarico would like the government to dictate to us, but his warped ideas of government don't make it God. What he and other Democrats are pushing would make everything worse.
Let's also look at this logically.
Jesus was operating with the power of the infinite. He was never going to run out of the ability to heal, as there is no limit or cap to what He could do. That is not the case for us. We live in a finite world, with finite supplies and manpower. Even in a capitalist system of abundance, we still ask people to donate things like blood and organs because the supply and the demand aren't equal.
This especially goes for socialized healthcare or, as the Left loves to refer to it, "free." Nothing is free, especially free healthcare. When everyone floods in for any reason at all because they don't have to pay for it, supplies run short, and soon, the people in charge of dishing out the supplies have to make some decisions such as who gets treated, who doesn't, and when said treatments occur.
Spoiler Alert: It's not going to be soon.
I have the story of the U.K.'s National Health Service (NHS) refusing to let a boy named Charlie Gard get experimental treatment, with its courts blocking his transfer to the United States. He died painfully at 11 months. A similar situation happened a bit later to Alfie Evans, with the NHS making the excuse that it was in the children's "best interests."
The best interest of a child is to live or, at the very least, get help where it can be had, but a socialist system does not see a child with complications living as a "best interest" scenario. In fact, in a socialized healthcare system, they will try to murder you through "euthanasia" if you're not worth it.

Perhaps Talarico can tell me what part of that Jesus would approve of? Since he's so wise in the way of the Bible, what aspect of murdering the unwilling because the healthcare system can't spare the supplies is holy?
I think what bothers me about Talarico isn't just his fake Christianity; it's the fact that he insults everyone's intelligence, including mine.
