Art is a powerful thing that can make you see something in a way you never had before, but likewise, it can also tell you a lot about the creator.
I don't know if you've seen it, but the latest Banksy piece has hit the streets of London, and it's... raging entirely for the machine, to put it lightly.
As you can see in this post from X, the statue depicts a well-dressed man in Western business attire walking off a pedestal into the void, which he can't see because the flag he's holding aloft with pride is blinding his vision.

This is a finger wag at the English, and probably anyone in the West who thinks reimigration is a good idea. The piece is effectively saying, "Your nationalism is blinding you."
My question to Banksy is "From what?" What is it exactly that he thinks I'm not seeing?
I can tell you what I do see. I see rape gangs, machete gangs, violent crime, spikes in welfare recipients, and open declarations of cultural war from immigrants who come over here and think the West should fall in the name of Allah.

No matter what Banksy thinks we're all supposed to see, it doesn't matter in the shadow of all these other things. People, especially women and children, are becoming more and more unsafe. People are dying.
And that's not even talking about the fact that the English legal system has become so pro-Islam that it's tilted over into becoming a borderline dictatorship toward its own citizens. No one is safe from the tilt toward Muslim rule, including mannequins.

And the same can easily be said for America as well. The attempts to push Islam on the West don't stop at the Atlantic. Right now, Texas is being invaded so much that they're building an entire Muslim city here. According to Governor Greg Abbott, a district judge's attempt to allow construction in this city to proceed has been halted, but legal battles to allow it to continue are ongoing.
It's not a conspiracy to say we're being invaded. These people who immigrate here aren't shy about telling you their ultimate goal is to out-breed Westerners and implement Sharia law.
According to Banksy, we should just let them? That trying to preserve Western culture and defend it from an inferior and ultimately destructive theocratic legal system is wrong to do? That the principles established by Western nations — that people are born with God-given rights and that people should be treated as humans no matter the gender or color or religion — is something that should go by the wayside to allow a belief system that runs antithetical to all of that should take over?
Does he think we should avoid being considered "nationalists" at all costs?
I hope he can hear me laughing from here.
The truth Banksy needs to understand is that, even if he means to say that adhering wholly to an ideology can blind you, he's still wrong. There are ideologies worth defending to the death. Western culture is one of them.
However, I don't think Banksy was speaking generally. The fact that he was able to erect this statue in London and have barriers up around it that are protected by police tells me that he got the okay from London leadership, which means this is a shot at the English.
Banksy has had some bangers in the past, but ultimately, he is a state-approved artist, and he just proved it.
