Gabrielle Giffords Shows You How to Blame the Victim of Terrorism Without Blaming the Victim

God forbid you ever become the victim of a terrorist attack, because the left and its media will set your body on the ground, then stand on top of it like a makeshift soapbox to blame everything and everyone under the sun except the person and the ideology that killed you or the radical policies of incompetent people that allowed it to happen.

After the terrorist attack carried out against two National Guardsmen on Wednesday, Specialist Sarah Beckstrom succumbed to her injuries, passing away on Thanksgiving Day. Staff Sgt. Andrew White remains in critical condition after undergoing surgery.

The attacker, an Afghan national named Rahmanullah Lakanwal, entered the United States in September 2021 as part of then-President Joe Biden's "Operation Allies Welcome." While it's not confirmed that Lakanwal had any connections to terrorist groups, his actions don’t exactly help convince me that this wasn’t somehow motivated by ideals that terrorists typically have.

Clearly, it wasn’t Beckstrom’s fault that she was shot, but Gabby Giffords doesn’t seem to see it that way.

Investigators Say National Guardsmen Shot Near White House Were Ambushed in Targeted Terrorist Attack

According to her, Beckstrom’s death is the result of “gun violence.”

Okay, so let’s break this down.

Someone known to "have radical Islamist tendencies," according to information reported by RedState's Jennifer Van Laar, who was brought over from a country where Islamic extremism is common, commits a senseless murder. It’s entirely possible this is ideologically motivated. Still, instead of waiting to see if that’s the case, Giffords decided to make this about the very rights the victim swore to defend.

The left loves to say that gun violence is a problem in our country, but that’s like blaming forks for America’s obesity issue. There are a lot of things you can blame before you even get remotely close to the tool.

If America did have a gun problem, then the number of people dead in the streets wouldn’t be limited to blue cities. You’d have the gutters tinged red with blood in even small towns due to people not being able to keep their fingers off the trigger whenever they’re a little inconvenienced.

But we don’t, because the vast majority of American gun owners don’t have any issues with misusing their firearms. Most of the time — and I do mean most of the time — the person pulling the trigger has a deeper issue.

If we follow Giffords’ logic, then the fault for the shooting lies with you and Beckstrom, because you continue to support the existence of the Second Amendment, practice it, and keep it upheld by voting in politicians who also support it. It’s Beckstrom’s fault because she signed up to protect the people of the United States and its Constitution, which includes the right to bear arms.

So you have Giffords being disgusting on two levels here.

Not only is she avoiding blaming the person who committed the act, and may very well have been motivated by extremist ideologies, but Giffords has already thrown that out. The why doesn't matter. She only cares about one thing: getting rid of guns. Her sentiments toward Beckstrom and her family are hollow lip service, and she's using Beckstrom's death to advance her goal.

If I've said this once, I've said it a thousand times. The Democrats only care about you as long as they can use you.
