Twitch's most infamous streamer and one of the left's heroes, Hasan Piker, is once again proving that the left is everything the right says it is. Violent, and not nearly as smart as it sells itself to be.
Speaking to the New York Times, Piker said that to him, "all politics revolves around the distribution of resources, and the distribution of power," which is a normal take for a socialist, but he goes on.
"A big part of that component is, of course, violence, as well," Piker said. "Revolutionary violence, for example."
Going to pause here, because what Piker just did is admit that his side sees violence as a "big part" of his politics. He may be pointing the finger at Western capitalistic systems — his bread and butter — but people who tend to support capitalism or Western values don't typically see violence as a primary component of their system. It's a regrettable thing that has to be implemented from time to time, and we usually only use it after other options have been exhausted.
However, violence is a big part of revolutionary movements, and Piker has shrugged off violence, especially against Israelis and Americans. For instance, he was the one who said "America deserved 9/11" and, more recently, that if rapes happened during Hamas's raid on Israel, it doesn't change his mind about Hamas.
For more info about Piker, you can watch my YouTube video on him below.
Back in May, he said the man who killed two Israeli embassy staffers was "genuine with his actions." Very recently, Piker sang "Bella Ciao" after the murder of Charlie Kirk, an Italian song often linked nowadays to Antifa.
So, Piker saying this reveals more about his politics than it does anyone else's, but he continues, saying that what he means is "who gets to do the violence," and "who gets to be on the receiving end of that violence."
Who "gets" to do the violence is really bad phrasing, but I digress.
He goes on to say that all political systems that exist are inherently violent. Again, I disagree, but the conversation gets even weirder.
He begins talking about "redirecting" the violence, then stops to say that he knows talking about violence can be a "scary concept" before stopping himself and saying that he's talking about violence in an "academic sense."
Piker tries to leave this behind by talking about his wish to live in a system that is more "egalitarian," but the interviewer brings him back to his words about "redirecting violence." Piker seems to shift by saying "First of all, I abhor violence" before putting some window dressing on his words by turning violence into an "abstract concept" of the "structural violence of poverty."
"When I'm talking about violence, I want to make it very clear, I'm not talking like 'Go out, take up arms, and start shooting people,' right? I'm talking about the structural violence of poverty, and redirecting that in the same way — the structural violence of equity."
The NYT interviewer seems to try to come to his aid and coach him with words that Piker bites on, eventually helping him make sense of what he's saying by calling it the "structural eradication of unjust wealth."
Piker: "All politics in my worldview revolves around the distribution of resources and power and a big part of that is violence?"

Great save.
And the left considers this guy one of their greatest minds.
What I think we just saw was a slip of the mask in front of a wider audience to make Piker seem smarter and less supportive of violence than he's actually demonstrated. Anyone familiar with him or his streams knows he's more than happy to dismiss violence against people and systems he doesn't like, even going so far as to interview and celebrate Houthi rebels on his stream by interviewing one.
Again, see my video above to get a solid idea of how deep this guy gets into his radicalism.
But what really sets Piker apart is that he's Twitch's golden boy. He gets away with saying horrendous things, while others have suffered permanent bans for far less. Despite his consistent radicalism, he continues to be someone Amazon takes no action against, despite Twitch being a platform they own.
Piker's radicalism is on full display, consistent, and disgusting, yet he's allowed to just roll on without any word or movement from Jeff Bezos.
